Well, the book it slowly but surely coming along, it's taking a bit longer then I thought it would. Well, I figured I'd give you a little tiny preview of one of the chapters. (Or part of one of the chapters.)

But, before I post the preview, let me give a appearance description of the female lead of my story, as at this point in the story, she pretty much wears the same thing, only slightly changing out certain parts from time to time. She is about in her twenties, and is dressed in a blue button up jacket, which she has unbuttoned, a black shirt underneath, a blue skirt and brown knee high boots. Her eyes a re blue, and her hair black, and semi long.

Now fore the preview.

---------------------------------------

Elsewhere in the mansion, in one of the many fancy bedrooms, was Clara, lying in a fairly huge bed, she still had her clothes on, even her boots. The room was lit by the pale moonlight, which gave things a faint bluish tint. Her eyes slowly opened, she felt a little dizzy, so she slowly propped herself up. She felt very tired, but then some words ran through her head, ‘marks in the neck.' She gasped and quickly felt her neck, no marks or punctures. She sighed and bumped her head on the wall as she leaned back.

“Ow, what happened to my headboard?” she asked as she rubbed the back of her head. Then the layout of the room began to sink in. Her eyes fell upon the bed, it was huge, a heck of a lot more comfy than her bed, she was in a bed that had a canopy, in a room that had fancy furnishings, a few plants here and there.

“Where on earth am…” her voice trailed off when she recalled where she was before, and how Charleston’s eyes glowed red.

‘Oh no, the family is responsible, they’re the ones who took all those people, my parents…and now I’m stuck in their mansion. Just what on earth are they? And why do they live like this? But more importantly, how am I supposed to get out of here?’ she thought. Then another thought came to mind.

‘Just how many members are there?’ She then hopped out of the bed and went over to the window to get an idea of where she was in the house. She wasn’t sure where she was at, but she was too high to get out the window, so she had to find another way. She went over to the door, and slowly turned the doorknob, it wasn’t locked, and she opened it quietly. The hall was dimly lit by candles, and not a soul was in sight, she quietly came out and closed the door behind her.

‘I can go either left or right, but which is the way out? I couldn’t really tell from the room I was just in, so I guess I just have to pick and hope I can get out of here.’ She made sure to be extra quiet as she walked down the hallway to her left, as the floor had a slight slickness to it, and it would echo a little if she ran. After a few minutes, she could hear something, it was very consistent, after a few seconds she came across another window, it had started raining, and soon a flash of lighting flashed in front of her, and she braced herself for the big boom to follow, but it was just a light rumble. She pressed onward, and came across many spots where she could go deeper into the mansion to her right, but she was afraid to, but she figured she would have to if she ever hoped to find the way to the entrance. She couldn’t help but marvel at how nice the place looked, it was very fancy, various carvings, paintings, the statues, and there were tapestries huge up here and there, the place had a real nice feel to it. But due to what happened to her and how she doesn’t know how she got there, it gave her an eerie feeling, not knowing what might be around the next corner. She went down one of the paths to her right, and there were doors on either side of her. One door coming up on her right was a little bit open, and a voice emanated from it, it was a males voice, a bit older than Charleston judging from the pitch of it.

“Did you hear the blunder that Charleston pulled?” he asked. Clara quickly pressed herself against the wall close to the door. Another man replied, and he had a little deeper, older sounding voice.

“Yes I heard, due to that slight interference from that one man, he forgot to bite her, in order to turn her into one of us,” he replied. Clara ran her hand across her neck.

‘Bite me? In order to turn me into one of them? Just what in the world are these people?’ Before another thought could enter her head, she heard the stomping sound of an angry person coming from the direction she just came from. She looked around and saw a tapestry that hung all the way down to the floor, so she quickly hid herself behind it. The stomping came her way and went right past her into the room next to her and made a slam noise which was the door being swung open, and Charleston’s voice boomed.

“I can’t find her!”

“What? Did you forget which room you put her in?” the younger man asked.

“No you idiot, she’s gone!” Charleston replied.

“That’s what you get for forgetting to lock the door,” the younger man commented.

“Will you get a grasp on the situation, this girl might cause us a lot of trouble now!” the older man said.

“Take it easy, it’s just one girl, we’ll find her,” the young man said.

“Yeah, one girl in a big house,” Charleston said.

“Precisely my point, she’s in a big house unfamiliar to her, where as we know its layout,” the young man said.

“Maybe, but there are places she can hide from us that we might not think of as a hiding spot,” the older man said.

“Wait, listen,” Charleston said. They listened and heard a faint thumping sound, very, very faint and it went silent. Charleston then looked out the door and saw the tapestry was swaying left and right a little bit.

“She was right outside the door behind the tapestry, I walked right by her,” he said.

“What are you waiting for, fool? Go after her!” the older man yelled. Clara had run down the hall where she came from and ran past the room that she woke up in and kept on going. She was getting pretty scared once she figured out what the people in the family really were, they were something that she thought was just a myth, they were vampires, it took a little bit for that to sink in. Why they were so secretive, rarely seen, and when they were seen, it was always in the middle of the night, and had a thirst for blood, and depending on how much was drank, the victims themselves would become vampires. Clara then stopped in her tracks when a thought came into her mind, the very last few moments of her mother’s life, she was running in absolute terror, and Clara saw her running, not even looking back, just running, and then she was found in the forest park with fang marks in her neck, her face in absolute terror.

‘How did my mother know what she was running from? Or did she even know?’ then some of the words spoken in the room before rang through her head. “This girl might cause us a lot of trouble now!”

‘They eliminate those who are going to pose as a threat to them, those who can expose their existence, my mother must have witnessed one of the vampires’ dirty work, so she had to be removed, so now I know why it happened to my mother.’ Clara thought she had all the angles covered, but then some more words quickly ran through her head. “Due to that slight interference from that one man.”

‘Jonathan! I was supposed to meet him at the party, he must have seen me enter the building with Charleston and followed, and witnessed the event, so now I’ve lost him too?’ Clara was about ready to fall to her knees and cry, but the fact that doing that would prove fatal in this place ran through her head. She figured she’d best hope for the best and keep on moving, she had to escape from this mansion. She ran down many corridors as the storm outside raged, the rain hitting the mansion, and the rumbles that follow the flashes, sometimes the rumbles were so big, they shook the place a little. She soon came across a railing that overlooked a huge room with some tables and chairs, and there was a huge chandelier in the middle of the ceiling, the jewel-type. The railing led to some stairs that did a slight curve towards the open area of the room. Before she made her way over to the stairs, she took a look at the area below, not a person was in sight. She quickly but quietly made her way to the stairs and soon reached the bottom. She walked a little bit from the stairs, when a slightly disoriented voice called; it was so disoriented, that she couldn’t make out the gender.

“Clara…Clara…Clara…Clara.” It made her pause for a moment, but soon all went silent, except the rain beating on the windows high above her. Not sure if it was just her mind playing tricks on her, she continued down the path she figured was best. She went over to a door and pressed her ear against it to try and determine if someone was on the other side, there wasn’t a single sound. She slowly turned to doorknob, and gave the door a little push, just to make sure if any sound was blocked by the door while closed; there wasn’t any talking or footsteps. She opened it a little more, and did a little peak past the door, just an empty corridor. She quickly entered and closed the door and went down the corridor, and so far all of the corridors she’s gone down have been well lit, either by candles or small light fixtures on the wall. There were many doors on either side of her, but she figured they just led to small rooms, but why were there so many she wondered.

She was making sure to walk extra quiet just to make sure if anyone was in those rooms they wouldn‘t hear her, and when she was nearing the end of the corridor, one of the doors to her right began to open. She quickened her pace and made it past the door and pressed against the wall where she would be hidden behind the door when it was fully open. When it stopped she was well enough behind to not be seen, and she heard two sets of footsteps, both fairly light. They were going down the path she came from, and left the door open, so she took a quick peek around the door. There were two young women, both dressed in fancy black dresses with red trim; one’s hair was a deep red, the other a pale blond. They were looking at each other, so she got a view of their faces and eyes. Their faces were both nicely featured, the red haired one’s eyes were about the same red as her hair, and the other had soft blue eyes.

“Yeash, the whole place is almost in an uproar just because of one human girl,” the blond one said.

‘She called me ‘human girl’, that proves that they’re vampires,’ Clara thought, she then began to slide against the wall towards the exit of the corridor.

“I know, but remember, just one human knowing about us can cause a whole mess of trouble,” the red haired one replied.

“What trouble? Who is going to believe her?”

“You haven’t been around as long as I have, I know of a group that has been hunting us for awhile now, it would just take one human to inform them about us.”

“A little off subject, should we leave the door open?”

“Probably not, I’ll get it.” And with that the red haired one went back to the door and closed it, and just as she was turning around, she did a double take, a little over a quarter of the way to the end of the corridor, was Clara. Clara took a quick glance back and they looked at each other blankly, that is before Clara did a little scream and ran. She made it to the corridor and turned left and saw stairs ahead of her. She ran a good ways and was fairly close to them when a loud growl emanated from behind her, which caused her to look back, and a wolf leaped for her. Clara quickly turned around fully and the wolf’s paws hit her shoulders and they both sailed through the air a bit and landed just at the top of the stairs. The wolf then placed its paws on her arms and soon it changed into the red haired vampire she just saw.

“Pardon my rough behavior, but this is necessary,” she said before her faced changed to where it wasn’t that good to look at, and her mouth peeled back to reveal long sharp fangs.

“No!” Clara screamed as she tried to move her arms, but the female vampire’s grip was very strong. Clara only had one idea, she managed to roll to her right and banged the female vampire’s head against the hard wood railing, which caused her to grab her head in pain, and Clara quickly grabbed her and gave her a hard pull which sent her rolling down the stairs. Clara quickly got up and saw the other female vampire coming right for her.

“Do not resist!” she screamed as she lunged. Clara held up her arms to try and stop her, but she grabbed her wrists and held them to the sides and leaned extra hard on her to try and get at her neck, but this caused Clara to step back a little, and made her right foot slip of the top step and they both toppled down the stairs. Clara managed to avoid getting hurt, while the female vampire hit head first on the floor, so Clara took her chance and began to run down the corridor, but the first female vampire that fell down the stairs was still on the floor and grabbed her ankle after she ran past, which almost caused her to fall as she gasped at the sudden stop. Clara tried to move her leg, but like before, the vampire’s grip was firm, so quickly glancing around, she spotted a suit of armor with a spear to her left, so she quickly took hold of the spear, yanked it loose and stabbed it into the female vampire’s forearm and pinned it to the floor. This enabled Clara to get free and run down the corridor, and she made it to the door at the end and got through it, slammed it shut, and grabbed a nearby chair and jammed it under the doorknob. She took quite a few deep breaths as she stood there, some sweet running down her forehead, her heart racing, she needed a little rest.

A few moments went by and she noticed after she turned around that this particular corridor wasn’t lit at all, other than by the moonlight that was shining through the windows to her left. She took a look out one of the windows and could see the ground below her, but too far to just jump down to it, but if she needed to, she could go out the window and try to jump to a nearby tree. She looked around to try and find a hard object that she could use to smash a lock, should she come across a locked door, but she figured she would need it for the gate outside of the mansion, as she saw a high wall outside. Doors lined the wall to her right, and to try to find a hard object, this would be the only reason she would enter one of these rooms, so she pressed her ear against one of the doors to make sure no one was on the other side, but there wasn’t a single sound. She quietly opened the door and looked in, the room was empty, just some tables and chairs.

On one of the tables was a statue, and the base it was on looked real sturdy, so she walked in and closed the door, went over to the statue and picked it up, the statue was just a cheap replica of one of the many famous statues that you would find at a museum, but the base was hard enough to crack someone’s head open. Carrying the thing whole would make it awkward, so she held the base and whacked the statue against the table, which put a big dent in it, but it still shattered the part she didn’t need, so she then scraped of the remaining parts of the statue on the edge of the table. The base was small enough to fit in her pockets, so she placed it in her left pocket as she went for the door to leave. She listened to the outside of the door again; there wasn’t a single sound other then the rain hitting the windows and a few rumbles of thunder. She opened the door a little and peeked out, no one was in the corridor, but then there was a banging on the door she jammed a chair under. She quickly left the room and slightly opened one of the doors as she ran by. She rounded the corner to the right long before the door she blocked got smashed, so she wasn’t worried about being caught by the two female vampires.

The corridor was long, and there were fewer doors, and still no light source other than the moonlight. She kept running down the corridor which made her footsteps echo a little, but not a whole lot, and could see a shadowed area ahead of her, which she didn’t really pay any mind to until a shape appeared inside. Once she saw the shape she did a slight gasp and tried to stop, but due to the slight slickness of the floor, she did a slight slip and landed on her butt. A woman’s voice then came from the shape.

“Clara, there you are, I’ve been looking for you,” the voice said as the shape was slowly coming out of the shadows, it was a woman in a beautiful white dress, her hair was long and black, and her eyes blue, and her face was beautiful.

“You have grown beautifully during these long years,” she added.

“How do you know my name? Who are you?” Clara demanded as she stood up.

“How do I know your name? Why my dear Clara, I’m the one who gave you your name, have you forgotten?” the woman asked. Clara’s eyes widened with shock, but then began to slowly fill with tears.

“Mother?” Clara asked.

And so ends the preview. Now you have an idea of how I think Vampires should be done. There's a heck of a lot more to the story, but this gives the idea that it isn't the mushy or "Forbidden Love" stuff. True, there is a little romance in it, but not between a human and a vampire. So what do you think?
Well, the book it slowly but surely coming along, it's taking a bit longer then I thought it would. Well, I figured I'd give you a little tiny preview of one of the chapters. (Or part of one of the chapters.)

Whoops. Sorry about closing your last thread. I just closed all the threads that didn't really need a comeback... I guess I shouldn't have closed yours. Anyways, your book looks pretty good. Is it going to be turned into an audio book? If so, I'll read it... I'm not a huge fan of reading. Well, reading books anyway lol
