A lot of kids in my grade in my school dropped lunch this year. I would never drop lunch because, well, I love food! I take a Digital Media class and I wanted to take theater too, but there is no way I am dropping lunch! What about you? Do you still have lunch? And for those of you that can't drop lunch, would you?

tgags123 : I do not drop lunch nor have the option to. If I could, I would say no because at my school, you can roam the school and eat lunch wherever you really want, such as the courtyard, football field, baseball field, etc. You just can't leave school premises. Lunch time is fun and lets me relax between classes, so even if I had the option to, I wouldn't.

Like I'd out of all people would drop lunch. I always get hungry in the middle of class, so dropping lunch is a no for me.

I don't drop it, no. You're allowed to leave the premises though IF you tell the teachers and your parents sign a form at the beginning of the year. Our school is all about safety, but I think it's because they're really rich and high in the state and don't want to lose that position if someone gets hurt on their part.

But, to sum it up, no. I love to go out to eat during lunch.

goodboy : How come you get to leave if your school is all about safety? I can't even leave the cafeteria to go to the bathroom without getting interrogated by seven hall monitor lady thingies. I don't really know what to call them.

tgags123:

They only let 11th and 12th grades do it, and that's only if they pass some test when the parents do the forms. Also, the place you get to go to has to be a) close or b) you need a license. I used to have one in Canada, but it's not usable in the US.

They're pretty lenient at lunch. But at the rest of the school, if you want to go to the bathroom from biology, holy crap will they pin you down until you inform them correctly.

DittoDude44 : I meant drop it completely for another class. Like you don't go there you go to another class instead. You don't have that option since you're in elementary school still.

I'm confused, you can't "drop lunch" especially for a class. Lunch is mandatory in every state, the school has to give you lunch time a 30-45 minute food break. Now if you mean you purchase lunch and eat it in another class that is different, like you purchase it and eat it during a class instead of in the cafeteria and eat lunch while being instructed in a academic class.

Me personally , I would never drop lunch especially not for something as trivial as a academic class, that can wait my basic needs for human interaction and survival comes first and conducting a class while trying to eat is just plain stupid in my opinion. Furthermore every child should have the opportunity to be around there friends for lunch, its kind of like a 30-45 minute break from school altogether.

tgags123 : Permission slip.....makes sense so that way no one can sue or claim the school denied you lunch or neglected to give you a lunch period. Still it is a pretty stupid idea to drop lunch for a class and any sensible and or halfway responsible parent wouldn't let there kid miss out on lunch hopefully people who "dropped lunch" doesn't suffer from or develop eating disorders from this or get malnourished. I say that because I'm in high school I leave at 6:30 in the morning and going to school from 6:30am-2:15pm without eating would be hell and I for sure would develop eating problems.

Wow... I'm so surprised... I have NEVER heard of a school letting kids drop lunch before. I was about to wonder the same thing.. how could it possibly be allowed?  The parent's permission makes that a lot more clear.  LOL

Still though.. I'm surprised ANY kid would give up their lunch for another class, or that a parent would allow it! Even with the parent's permission, it just seems as though asking for trouble if the kid gets sick or faint or.... overwhelmed....

That being said, as a student I probably would have loved this.  I would have gotten hungry, but I think I would have chosen to get through more classes and learn more.... over eating.  I never liked the lunchrooms anyways, and always avoided them like the plague.  I'd sneak my lunches into the library and eat there.  If the librarian came by, I'd quickly stuff it away to hide it. XD

As an adult though?  I'd appreciate it even more. I mean, I hardly eat lunch at all...

Divine Aurora :
Singelli :

A lot of the teachers are nice and will let you eat in class. You can also snack in between classes. Divine Aurora, my school runs the same time. I'm not sure how they do it. A lot of people eat on the bus too.

tgags123 : Just saying it isn't healthy for growth and development especially for younger kids but I guess if it's what you want to do...  go for it but as soon as one kid develops a eating disorder or gets malnourished and or faints because of this the school is going to go through alot of questions in ethics and safety concerns (possibly a little word from the school board and superintendent).
