Is anyone else here part of the international Valiant Defender's Party? It's a Christian student and alumni leadership society made up of many home schoolers, private schoolers, and Christian schoolers in the high school and college level. (That's not to say that public schoolers aren't invited or can't apply, I guess it's the target audience) It's a relatively new organization, only about a couple years old. If you haven't heard of it, well, you have now!

Unlike some of the national school clubs I've been part of, this one really felt like a good community to be part of. They also have an interesting leadership system, with a President and Vice President, a royal family with a King and Queen, a parliament, and a court, among other things. As far as I know, it's purely student run. It's less than a club but more like a society dedicated to your advancement. They do some political things, like make petitions; sometimes they set up an online orchestra where musicians can play, usually every Christmas, they even do fundraisers for individual members so they can tackle opportunities.

What I really liked, if you're a homeschooler, you'll get this, is that the VDP is a sponsor of the Blimey Cow Audio Network. Very, very cool.

So, is anyone else a fellow Valiant?

Wow, I've never heard of this, but it sounds pretty awesome. I'm going to need to look into it. Sorry I don't have anything valuable to offer... I just wanted to thank you for sharing this with us. Whenever I have the time, I'm definitely going to look it up. I've always wanted to homeschool my kids, but the only program I've heard great things about is abecca. (I might be spelling that incorrectly.)

EDIT:  Well, I mean.. if/when I have kids.

Singelli :
Oh no, it's not a school curriculum like Abeka. I actually graduated from Abeka Academy last year. This is a society, like Phi Beta Kappa, but for those in alternative education. Thank you, though, for that.  It's cool that you're considering homeschooling your kids! If you do, I do recommend signing up for the VDP, membership is free and its for a lifetime.
