Yesterday I went to the closing day of a small convention called Matsuricon in Columbus, Ohio. I went in full cosplay and met quite a few interesting people there as well. So my question has have anyone else here went to a convention? In cosplay or without? Just a general place to share thoughts.

I only went to one anime convention back in March. I was there for all three days, but I didn't wear cosplay. It was really fun! I got to buy a few things and hang out in the game room there. I'd like to go to another anime convention in the future.

I been to NY Comic Con 3 years in a row so far.
I didn't cosplay, but last year, I wore bunny ears for one of the days.

Last con I went to before that was MikomiCon in California.

Before that Otakon in 2002...

I've gone to Anime Expo twice, last year and this year. It was really fun! It's always nice to see everyone in cosplay. Some people really go all out. Everyone is really cool too, we are all there cuz we enjoy the same things. I've only gotten restricted passes which only let me go to the artist alley, which is always a highlight for me because I love buying prints and such. I'm planning to go again next year but definitely getting the full day pass cuz there is so much to check out, especially the gaming room lol. Not sure if I will cosplay though, it would be my first time doing that. It is still one my ultimate goals to attend the San Diego Comic-con, so  hopefully one day cuz it sounds totally amazing.

There used to be a time when these things were mostly about comics and perhaps a bit about science fiction.

If I ever enter one it will be with a couple of guys and we will be bringing baseball bats.

I've been to Animaritimes in Halifax this year, I got a poster signed by Vic, the guy that voices Ed Elric.

And non anime related, I met one of my favorite Doctors from Doctor Who, Peter Davison (5th)

I have gone to the New York Comic Con twice in my life and I had so much fun each of those times. The first time I went, I met the cast of my favorite show, Gravity Falls.

I have not been to comicon or similar conventions. In fact, I didn't even know about this sort of thing until I watched it in the Big Bang Theory. Now that I know about them and see how so many of my favorite shows do them, I'll try going to one once I'm in college this fall.

No I haven't really ever got to attend a convention. Although I would like to it takes gas and money and that I don't have. I hope one day though maybe I will get a chance to attend one.

I love to go to comic cons! I've been to 13 altogether. The next one isn't until March, which I will definitely be going to. Every year the city I live in has 2 con's that I go to: Central Canada Comic Con and the Pop Culture Expo. Both are great and they always have lots to buy and some pretty cool guests. Back in November I met James Marsters from Buffy and got him to sign a drawing I did of him.

I've never cosplayed for a con, but my brother and myself have discussed possibly going as female and male Commander Shepard ( from Mass Effect ) this year. I'd like to, but we'll see how things turn out. Opening night of C4 is on Halloween this year too.

My first convention was Matsuri con, same place as you (Columbus, OH), and I'm actually planning to go to Ohayo-con in a couple days. The cosplays there were interesting, I remember going in a room (I forget what this is actually called) and it has a cosplay group whre people asked them a bunch of questions. It was boring in my opinion, but I guess I would think otherwise if I actually seen them before.

This is all really cool and to everyone who replied so far, thank you! Last January I went to the last two days of Ohayocon and I've been thinking of going to Matsuricon again this year. (No cosplay this time, my budgets a little stretched as it is.)

I went to a small one in December 2004 called Anime 4 Christmas. You can tell it was very low budget, there were probably no more than 150 people there. The T-shirt I got was airbrush drawn, one like you might find at the state fair. But I was only 12 at the time and I still had some fun. I dressed up as Kite from .hack//SIGN. They held another one the following year but I wasn't able to go. I don't know if they ever did any past 2005...

Last year I almost went to Kumoricon, but I gave up on it since I wouldn't have been able to attend for very long because of my twisted work schedule. I really want to go to Everfree Northwest someday, although that's not an anime con

The only convention I have ever been to was Tekkoshocon 2013. It was pretty fun, and I went with a couple of my friends. We did not cosplay, but I feel like it would have been even better if we did. There is just such a different experience for those who do versus those who don't. Alas, I spent all of my money on games instead of a costume (heh). This year, I tried to go to Tekko 2014, but I managed to get really sick during the weekend that it was open on, and so I got to miss this year. Of course, even if I did go, I would have been unable to go in cosplay because once again, I spent all of my money on games. I really hope I can go next year, and if I do, that I can cosplay and join in on the fun.
