Overall (9.5)
Pokemon Emerald was always my favorite Pokemon game. Parts of the game are annoying, but overall it's a very fun game. The starters are great, you can catch more legendary Pokemon than the previous games, and it actually talks about your dad, unlike most Pokemon games.
Graphics (10)
The graphics in this game are outstanding for a GBA game. The difference between Emerald and the previous Pokemon game, Crystal, is huge.
Sound (8)
I never really liked the music in Pokemon, but Emerald has a pretty good soundtrack. (Unlike the piercing music of Lavender Town in Gen 1) It's different, but still has the same feel as the earlier games.
Addictiveness (10)
I guarantee you will get hooked. This is probably the most addicting game I've ever played. And I mean "sitting at the computer for 8 hours straight" addicting. You will most likely beat the Elite Four in a day or two, especially because you can speed up the game with the space bar.
Story (9)
Pokemon games usually have good stories. Pokemon Emerald is one of my favorites. Instead of there being one group of bad guys, there are two. However, those two hate each other, so they help you fight the other group. You also have a dad in this game. It never even mentions a father in the earlier games, so I'm not sure how the character was born (I have theories but I'm not getting into that). You dad even plays a big role in this game - he is a gym leader. I also love how the Hoenn Region is set up, and that you can catch 7 legendary Pokemon
Depth (8)
It is pretty easy to get to and beat the Elite Four, however there is a lot to do after that. You can go to various new locations and catch new Pokemon, go to the Battle Fronteir, and even rebattle the gym leaders.
Difficulty (5)
This game is pretty easy. There are a lot of good wild Pokemon early in the game, so you can get a strong team early. The Elite Four isn't as difficult as early games, and the gym leaders are rather pathetic. Great for beginners, but not recommended if you are looking for a challenge.
Pokemon Emerald is a great game that I strongly recommend playing. It is a very popular game, and rightly so. It is easy, but very addictive and fun. It has a great story, and there's a lot to do, especially after beating the Elite Four. If you are looking for a fun game, try Pokemon Emerald.
