While roaming around the Retro Game Room, I stumbled upon an Apple II game with a very high rating. I decided to give the game a try to satisfy my curiosity. To my surprise, I found the game enjoyable; in fact, I decided to make a review about the game: Number Munchers.

Graphics - 5

I have to admit, the graphics of the game is what made me doubtful. Then I realized that this game did not need to rely on graphics to strive. It may not be as great as the graphics of today's games, but its charming pixels are a delightful bonus to Number Munchers.

Sound - 5

Secondly, the sounds of this game consist of nothing more than different pitched beeps (perhaps there might have been some themes I overlooked). Nevertheless, the sounds give off an arcade-like feel when playing this game.

Story - N/A

This game has no story in it. However, it does have cute little cut-scenes after certain levels. The adorable cut-scenes give players a very short break in preparation of the oncoming level. Many (if not all) of these cute-scenes refer to historical or literary events. *Note: I recommend turning sounds on when encountering these cut-scenes.

Difficulty - N/A

The difficulty of this game actually varies on the player's reaction and his/her ability to calculate. The player must be able to calculate while avoid getting eaten by the 'Troggles'. I refuse to review or rate this section because of my biased opinions. I will say this though: practice makes perfect!

Depth & Addictiveness - 10

Being a puzzle-solving genre, I have no reason to doubt that this mathematical game will have plenty of depth. The player will be given a statement at the top of the screen that will always have multiple answers. In order to move on to the next level, the player must munch on the correct answer while avoiding the 'Troggles'. If a Troggle were to step on a number, the number will change to a different value. If two Troggles were to step on the same spot, one of them will eat the other, lessening the amount of Troggles in the screen. The Troggles can disappear and reappear on the edges of the screen; the player must be wary of the number of Troggles in the screen in order to not get surprised-attacked. Also, if a player munches on a wrong solution, a life point will be lost as a consequence. This complexity is what makes Number Munchers so addicting.

Overall - 9.5

Number Munchers is basically math made fun. It combines the practice of arithmetic with the entertainment of a video game. I recommend this game to anyone; it will greatly improve calculating and arithmetic skills. Before Number Munchers, I really sucked at math. Now, I suck much less!

Nice review. Decent length and detailed nicely. You didn't really go into the depth that much, though. I get that you've never reached the end, but you could at least go on Google and search it.

UFC : Heheh, thanks for giving me a chuckle.
