So I've gotten some new strings for my acoustic after about two years, but there's a bit of a catch- my guitar has no bridge pins. To answer your question, no, this is not a nylon-string guitar. Here's where I think the ball ends go:

I've restrung a guitar before. Should I trust my instincts and run with this?

You should try again to fix it.
Or you might as well throw it away if you can never fix it.
Or just get an expert to this repair.
It is the best to do.

So I ended up restringing it, but a friend of mine who knows more than I do said that the neck is warped. Problem is, there's no way to fix it other than unscrewing the neck and a bunch of other stuff that I'm not currently confident in myself to do. Apparently, it's a simple fix, but it costs about $300. Just thought I should throw this out there.

the neck can become warped due to tension.
if the strings are too "heavy" for the guitar it can pull the neck out, or if you take all the strings off at once the sudden tension change can also mess it up

thenumberone : I took off all the strings when I did it so I could clean the neck- it had been two years since this had been restrung, after all. Is this going to be a problem in the future?

that depends. I dont really know how bad your neck is warped, it tends to effect the quality and clarity of the notes you play, unless its really bad though it isnt a major issue.
if it sounds good to you then thats all you need.
if you had it fixed it would certainly improve the sound but you need to consider if its economical to pay for it.
you quoted 300 to fix it, unless the guitar is worth over say, 500, id sooner just buy a new one if it bothered me that much.
I have several guitars, I only really obsess over my best electric and my best electric-acoustic. the others have some imperfections but they are good enough.

best practice when restringing is one at a time, for future reference, and obviously tune it every now and then because when the strings slacken that releases tension.

Get to a Music Store.
They often have replacement parts.
Plus if the parts required are different than the norm? (I do not see how in your case.) Then they should be able to order the stuff you need. String Pins or Plugs or whatever they are called these days are fairly cheap (Should be under $10.00 Bucks easy) and should present no problem being replaced.
Though I am only familiar with the pins that are seated directly into the bridge and into the guitar hollow. I see no reason why you can not find replacement parts.
If you need a catalogue? I recommend "American Music Supply".
You might want to buy custom items to go all out on restoring your guitar. (Get New Pick guard, New Knobs for the Machine Head, Etc, etc, etc.)
Personalise the thing to your tastes.
But if you are a beginner and this is a used guitar? Have the neck checked and see if the rod inside can be adjusted. You do not want too much of a bow in a used guitar. So a pro might be consulted. If you want to save cash???
Skip all the above and go shopping

Target has cheap guitars that should sound O.K. for beginers I buy mini amps and strings and such from them all the time. They are called "Lyon" made by a sister company of "Washburn".
Traditional "Washburn" guitars are High quality and normally expensive. But the "Lyon" series may be the way to go if you do not want to sink a ton of cash into this if you are a beginner or are not typically an acoustic guitar fan.

Hope this post helps.
Good Luck.
Peace.

P.S. "Rock on."

You know what you could do? I could be a good guy, and the next time I go over to visit my mother on the other side of the Puget Sound, I can check the music shop. They have some cheap and nice acoustic guitars there, if you want. I think they even deliver.

thing1 : I live in the Puget Sound area! Are you perhaps referring to Mainline Music?
orionfoxgibson : Part of the problem is that the truss rod can't be adjusted- at least not in the usual way, via Alan wrench- and it doesn't have bridge pins. At this point in time, I'm not a beginner and not sure if I have the space or money for a new acoustic guitar. Thanks for all of the information, though! I'll

Tido : I have seen "Lyon" guitars go for as little as $60.00 bucks.
But,
If you are not a beginner?
Then I recommend "American Music Supply Catalogue". Every now and again you can find a good "Ibanez" or "Fender" for about $200.00 bucks. Brand New.
Though If you are stuck on the current Axe for any Reason? You might have to bite the big one and pay for an all out restoration.
Though $300.00 Bucks is a bit impractical.
And
That is just one issue. Imagine, What other issues could crop up.
Sounds like you got a wall decoration that has been mistreated.
In any case I wish you luck.
Peace.
