I am atheist to be honest, so I am not too bothered about breaking the minor ones. Most of them appear in the modern day law. I think what I have read from this thread, there are a lot of variations of the ten commandments.

Besides the point, I were to choose a religion I would go for Buddhism.  I like some of the concepts of it and the is most stuff I would believe than some other religion. Though I can't not imagine rencaration.

MechaMento : We are not talking about minor cultural laws, but the Ten Commandments, which are moral laws. God takes goodness very seriously and any violation of moral law (sinning) is serious in God's eyes.

Sadly, it doesn't matter as to what we choose or not. If what we choose is not true, it is meaningless and it wouldn't exist.

play4fun : My post was obviously not clear enough.
What I ment was how the law has shaped onto the commandments. I only don't mind if I break the commandments I rank the least important. It is less evective to my moral since I don't believe in a god, but I respect the commandments and other religions.

Although most Christians should strive to uphold them at all times, and many Atheists do as well just for the "morals" in it, there isn't a single person alive or who ever was alive, with the exception of Jesus, who didn't break at least one. We're men. We sin. It's impossible for us to follow it every single second of our lives. It's not in our natures.

So why make a law that no one can uphold? To condemn? No, to save! I don't remember exactly where, but the apostle Paul gives an argument similar to the one I am about to make. The law was here to point out how much we need God. We can't uphold it on our own; therefore, it is forever shining a bright light on our sins. That's where Jesus comes in. The law shows us how much we need him; Jesus fulfills the law. His perfect life makes up for the fact that ours was less than. Sorry that I gave such a long explanation about such a simple topic.

I'm pretty sure that everyone to exist has broken at least 1 of the ten commandments.  No one is perfect.  Since we are human, we make mistakes every day of our lives.  Sometimes without even noticing them.  The Son of God, Jesus Christ, is the only one that is perfect.  In that case, yes, I have broken at least one of the ten commandments.

Right on.

I am so suprised to find out how many people here, even though they like to holler and yell all over the place how Christian they are, try to deny that they are sinners at the same time. The pride and the vanity I see it is just so sad. But I am not to judge, ofcource. It just makes me feel bad for so many people. At least the atheist are being honest of who they are but the people who are supposed to be good Christians are just being in denial and hypocrites.

I hope you didn't got offended. If you did not I guess you were not who I meant.

Brigand : Wait....who are you even talking about? Everyone here who are Christians are saying that no one has kept the commandments. In fact, that is the core understanding of Christianity.

Brigand : Is he the only one you are referring to? We don't even know if he's a Christian or not. All he said was that he goes to church. That doesn't mean that he is a Christian. From the post, it just sounds like a lack of understanding about the sinfulness of Man and God's high standard of goodness.

Actually, the Sabbath is Saturday. The Ten Commandments were written during the time when the last day of the week was the seventh day, and by our calendar, that's Saturday. Christians consider Sunday to be their day of worship because Jesus arose on the first day of the week which is Sunday for us. Also, I believe keeping the Sabbath holy is the only commandment not mentioned in the New Testament so I don't think it should be too much to worry about. I still try to be as reverent as I can though.

As for breaking the rest of them, I've broken my fair share.

Wow I can't believe a couple of people actually said they had never broken one!  Ever look at hot chicks, wish you had a better computer, car, or whatever.  I know the one I feel most guilt over is number 6.

Ouch
I'm certain I've broken every single one.

All a person can really do is put the past behind them, set their foot down, and never do those things again.

I am getting a lot of hate PM's of people saying I couldn't possibly have not broken any commandments,I wasn't trying to toot my own horn and say "Hey,I'm great,I have broke no commandments",I just felt that I haven't broke any and was only asking if anyone has broken any and if anyone has then Jesus loves you anyway

Thou shalt have no other Gods before me (Of course not)

Thou shalt not make unto thee any graven image (Never did that)

Thou shalt not take the name of the Lord thy God in vain (I have other words)

Remember the Sabbath (Of course)

Honour thy father and thy mother (With all my heart and soul I do,hard for some to believe that I had a good upbringing and never have problems with my parents)

Thou shalt not kill (I know I have never broken this one)

Thou shalt not commit adultery (Not me,but someone broke this commandment against me)

Thou shalt not steal (No,no reason to steal anything, and had no reason to as a child )

Thou  shalt not bear false witness against thy neighbour (No problems there)

Thou shalt not covet (Maybe someone nice can define this commandment to me,but as far as I know I do not covet anything)

So maybe I have broken Thou shalt not covet, well then I have broken one then if that is the case, but hopefully someone will explain that commandment to me a bit more and for anyone that has broke commandments, nobody's perfect, not even me
