(Overall) E.T. The Extra Terrestrial for the Atari 2600 is most likely the most hated and ranted about game of all time! Lets talk about it a little. This is a 1982 adventure game made for the Atari 2600. This game was rushed out in time for Christmas and from what I have heard they put out more copies of this game then there were Atari 2600s to play them! Atari was really hoping this game would be there biggest seller but that's not the way it happened. E.T. was a complete and total flop and one of the big reasons for the great video game crash. So many people returned this game that Atari had to bury them in a landfill in New Mexico. To this day collectors, casual gamers, and reviews are still ranting and raving about this game. The Angry Video Game Nerd even has a movie coming out about this game, but is it really as bad as everyone is saying?

   (Graphics) There are quite a few different screens in this game for an Atari 2600 game. The main thing you will see in E.T, is a green field with dark green oval shapes which are holes in the ground. The E.T. and boy sprites look pretty good and the telephone parts look like any other unrecognisable Atari 2600 thing. Really the graphics are better then some not as good as others and probably the best thing about this game!

   (Sound) This is really just your average Atari 2600 game when it come to sound. I really don't have anything to say about this other then beep boop and that is all you will hear. 

   (Addictiveness) Well lets talk about the game a little more. You run from a guy in black. If he touches you, you will lose all the telephone parts that you have! You will be put in some kind of jail or science lab I guess. Now how do you get the telephone parts? You fall into holes. Some holes will have em some wont. Now getting out of the holes is the "fun" part. It is a total pain in the butt to get out of the holes. You stretch your neck out and try float up to get out. Now that you know what the game is about you tell me if you want to play it. Personally its not all that fun but is alright. Really all the replay value comes from having friends play it or you challenge yourself to beat it.

   (Story) Most Atari 2600 have no story what so ever so I will give this game props for having a little bit of one. You have to get the telephone parts to "phone home" like in the movie. There are one or two other characters from the movie in this game.

   (Depth) Yet again this game is just about the same as any other 2600 game. I do think this game can be beat though. Most Atari 2600 games are all about high score.

   (Difficulty) This game is a tuff one! It is very hard to get the phone parts and as soon as you do this jerk in black comes and takes em away! Yea its hard! You can summon the little boy to make the guy in black go away for a minute but how you do that is beyond me. E.T is a lot harder then most Atari 2600 games I have played

(End) Now that you know what the game is about tell me is it really that bad? No, I don't think its as bad as everyone thinks. Yea its not to fun but think about how many other games are just the same or worse not only on the Atari 2600 but out of all consoles. I can think of 100 games that I would rather play E.T. then play. Give it chance, you might just like it.

The introduction alone came out very strong. You gave a whole synopsis of the game and its history in a very intriguing manner, as well a good hook. It was almost like you were writing an essay. The review it self was well written and very neat, I had no problem reading it, whatsoever. I was also surprised to see an actually positive approach to the game, rather than just stating all the issues it has and how it is considered "the worst game ever".

The game might be overhated to most, and I feel now that it doesn't really get it's credit. It was rushed to be developed, which wasn't fair to the deveolpers, and it pretty much was destined to be crap. Nothing we can do with that.

I can't say how glad I am to see a positive and fair review on this game. It really isn't that bad for a game from it's time. It isn't exactly great, but as you said, it definitely isn't the worst game ever.
