Personally, I enjoyed watching Man of Steel in the theatre. I mean, sure, it was kind of a snooze-fest and the action scenes were overdramatic, what with Superman killing Zod and all, but overall, I liked the deep storytelling about Superman's origins and it was entertaining to look at. At its very least, I thought it was miles better than Iron Man 3. What do you think of it? I'd like to know, because this film has a lot of hate from critics.

it was ilogical, full of pointless scenes, far too much action orientation, no subtlety, fail to ebgage me in any emotive sense, and was really a generic high budget fist fighter.
that being said it was better than previous superman films (what an acolade that is /sarcasm ).
it wasnt bad per say, its worth seing, just dont go in expecting miracles would be my words to those who haven't seen it.

thenumberone : I totally agree with you. Man of Steel wasn't the worst movie, but it definitely wasn't the best movie I could've hoped for. I was never really cared that much about Superman anyway...I just didn't grow up in his heyday.

I do agree with this. It was a bad and pointless movie that had some bad parts. The only good thing that I do have to say about it is that I have seen worse.

Simply put:

Great action; lame script/plot.

The graphics and fight sequences were over the top, but if you are going to see a superhero action movie to see some realistic fighting, you'd be disappointed and stupid. The 3D was very very well done, and the action very fun.

But some scenes were so lame, I couldn't really enjoy it. Coming from producer Chris Noland and Writer David S. Goyer, I was expecting a plot of similar calibure to the Batman trilogy... it wasn't even close. It was simply a typical superhero plot.

***Spoiler*** The scene with his father and the tornado... VERY stupid. ***Spoiler***

If you DO want to see, see it in 3D, as it's impressive. But your not missing a quality movie.

I found the beginning a bit boring to be honest. It started of like Smallville gone wrong. I wasn't overly fussed on the CGI used throughout the film, but I did enjoy the score - I would deffo buy the CD. Towards the middle of the film it gets more interesting and the near the end was the best part. There were a lot of scenes where I would sit there and think 'Really, No one would really do that' And I found the whole fight with zod a bit repetitive. I just wanted the half hour fight to be over with already. I did enjoy it more than I thought I would have though considering I have never really liked any of the Superman movies much - I would watch this one again.

I haven't seen the movie yet, but I've seen a bit of praise for the action scenes from critics.  Bad points included women existing only to be saved or ask questions, the lack of a good dynamic between Lois Lane and Superman, and lame plot.

I am waiting for the video release. I am not the biggest Superman fan. I would only watch one of his movies in the theatre if they did Frank Millers BatMan Vs Superman.

I recommend catching "Comic Book Girl 19" on youtube and seeing what she's got to say about it. I trust her taste. Plus she is excited about comics and nerd movies in general.
But
Even if she said that a Superman movie was a must see? I still would not be rushing to catch it.
I just do not like Superman movies.
Not my thing.
Good Luck.
Peace.

supernerd117 : The final fight scene with Superman versus Zod was awesome and overdone at the same. At about the halfway point of that ridiculously long brawl between the two of them, I was about to fall asleep and get a few seconds of rest (as I did several times throughout this film). I was thinking to myself, "God, how many skyscrapers can Superman and Zod punch each other through before enough is enough?"
It seriously felt like the incredible Hulk on steroids, with Superman as the Hulk and Zod as Abomination.

It had good fight scenes but just a stupid plot. It had meaningless scenes and some of the scenes were illogical. Also, some characters came out of no where and superman could of gone to a country where no houses are.
Like deserts but no, lets destroy lots of cars by colliding us with the Earth.
