Hello fellow readers, members, and reviewers alike! Today we are reviewing one of the most Iconic games in Mega Man assistance! take a gaze upon the New Generation Mega Man we know as Mega Man X! Now we have a lot, and I mean A lot of ground to cover if were ever going to make it through this heck of a game! Has it aged well in the gaming universe? Has it left a big impression for us gamers as a whole? Let's find out!

Plot: Well isn't this a surprise? Mega Man X is in fact a total new generation like previously stated. In fact it's so new, it takes a total of about 100 years into the future of what we know as Mega Man (Classic). X, like Mega Man himself, is a robot of Dr. Thomas Light. Not just any robot, but a reploid. A robot that can have their own feelings and emotions. Along with that they can make their own decisions. X himself, has a bit of sentience to him. Dr. Cain, a scientist finds the blueprints and other necessities needed to finish Dr. Light's work. So, he finishes the robot and our adventure takes place some time later...

X has took notice of the chaos that has been about in the city, so he decides to do something about it and take some action! Minutes into his adventure, a huge robot appears from a ship and starts wailing on X. Wringing him by the neck, he insults X ready to deliver the final blow when... You guessed it. The coolest, one of the most famous characters known to the Mega Man fan base shows up and blows off the arm of Vile (the robot who almost destroyed us). Charging up his buster, Vile makes a hasty retreat and Zero gives us some quick info that can basically be summed up as "You aren't ready for the big stuff. But one day, you will be ready for the tough guys". Now, we begin the hunt... Of mavericks.

Game Play: Similar to Mega Man 2 and onward, Mega Man X has you hunting down X robot mavericks and destroying them. In addition to adapting their powers. But I must mention, a bit of more stuff has been added  These include the wall jump, the charge shot, (different levels and variations that is) and the dash. And I must say,  X is a heck of a lot more controllable than Mega Man. While I admit,  Mega Man was easy to control, X has so much more abilities that It's almost no contest. Especially when you obtain the dash. If your want an easier time, definitely tackle Chill Penguin's stage first.

If that wasn't enough, you also get power-ups! This can range from the already mentioned Dash, to a 1-hit KO hadoken! I don't want to spoil too much so jut play the game for yourself! Also similar to the 8-bit games, you are in complete control. You can't possibly feel like you've lost control of the character. This is saying a lot considering the jump to 16-bit.

Graphics: We can all admit that the graphics of the SNES were master pieces. Weather it be Super Mario World or Link to the Past, most of it is pretty good. Now how does Mega Man X affair to his brothers? Perfectly. Everything you look at here is detailed. It can be the floor you walk on or even the walls you jump on. If you see something, it will either go perfectly with the setting, or have a brilliant color pallet and details features. Look at X's fully charged buster! Games from the X series even made a similar art scheme to that of Mega Man 7. The graphics will leave you breathless.

Sound: This game, let alone the series has a variety of themes. This can range from a calm level stage theme, so an epic, loud introduction. Want an epic remember able OST, Mega Man X doesn't disappoint. This really proves that the apple doesn't fall too far from the tree. In this case, Mega Man and X. But what's more satisfying are the realistic sound effects. Ever take a listen to the original NES games and think, "these are some weird sound effects". If you are a hardcore gamer you probably have. X doesn't fall flat in this area oh no. Let's take a quick look at Chill Penguin's stage again. Rather Chill Penguin himself. Take not that when an an Ice Block, or bit of shotgun ice cracks, the sound effect gives you the feeling of it actually shattering. Don't worry about those annoying sounds from the old times because that's over and done now!

Depth: OK, so we all know that X follows the same format/formula as the original correct? You may think, "so it doesn't get a good enough score?" If you have, you thought wrong by a long shot. X takes Mega Man, and reinforces it ten fold. What can't you find here that Mega Man hasn't already took part in besides the controls? Exactly, nothing. X tops him in all of the categories.

For one, the smoother controls. Yes yes I do understand that I'm coming back to this but it's something I can't stress enough. The controls in Mega Man are almost always perfect, but feeling able to control the altitude and angle of your characters movement is so much more satisfying. Along with that, the armor. X, with as bulky as he is, isn't anything without his armors. Theses armors make the adventure so much more
bearable it's almost like a slap to the face. If you're going to make the game easier, then definitely go out of your way to find these strength inducers. Last thing I should add is something that revolves around visuals. Ever see a robot master die in the original? Just an explosion and plasma scattered around who knows where. Check this, depending on how you kill an enemy, a certain something will happen to it. The perfect example is around Flame Mammoth. If you use Boomer Kuwanger's weapon on him, his trunk falls off. NO other weapon has this effect. This also applies to regular enemies in that, some of them die if you hit them in a certain spot. This is shown in the intro stage where you fight the first robotic bee. He sends out some enemies that aren't effected if you shoot their legs, but rather their heads. It's amazing to say the least how all of this can impact a game.

Difficulty: I am gonna throw a lot of you viewers out here, but I found X to be easier than Mega Man for one main reason. If you guessed control you are right. See, while Mega Man had some awesome control, X takes that controls and boosts it. Not by much, but still. The power-ups only help that category. But with that out of the way.. Let's focus on what you really want to hear.

Stages. How hard are the stages? Let me put it like this. "If you want a challenge. Don't get the dash. If you want want, tackle Chill Penguin"
Depending on who you are and how you affair with video games, these stages can be either easy or hard. It's as simple as that. But the Mavericks? That's a completely different story. With each maverick, comes a completely crazy movement pattern that can be difficult to track down, and if you aren't careful, they may end up having one over on you. Unlike Mega Man, these patterns are a simply, move up and attack. They attack depending on where you're standing on that map for crying out loud. Accurate much? The bosses and Mini bosses themselves are too hard, (excluding the final boss) but they do take a long time to destroy. Other than that, this game can be somewhat easy. I would give this category a 7.5, but I can't so... Yeah

Mega Man X has widely improved on what Mega Man has failed on, and even on what made him a star, and too this day day are begging Cap Com to release a new Mega Man game soon. X himself has left a huge impact on the video game industry and Mega Man as a franchise. With that said, you might as well find that game, pay the price for it, and have one heck of a gaming session. If you love this franchise, you should play this ASAP. So what are you waiting for? Go out there and play this game.

Very good job in this review! You had lots of clear, thorough detail in this. It looks really great. You broke everything down by category and you explained everything in the game perfectly. I like the amount of effort and information you put into each section of your review. It really looks nice when you have good details.

You executed your points well and then explained them perfectly. Your review is the perfect length and I think you kept it neat, organised and easy to read and understand, which is very important in a good review, neatness. Overall you did a good job, you had lots of great things to say and I think this is amazing. Keep up the great work and keep making reviews! This was a great read!

chaoscontrolx : Hello! A very entry line into your review. It was very .. approaching? I couldn't tell ye. I love your word choice in the beginning of your review 'Iconic', 'gaze', 'impression'. Really good word choice; it's those words that really grab my attention and you definitely did that, nice work! Keep it up!

Your review was laid out very neatly, excellent structure. I've never seen 'Plot' in a review or even anyone start a review like that, I guess it's similar to story which is good, nice work there too.

There was a lot of detail and description in this review which is excellent! I love reading detailed reviews. Nice work.

Overall, great review. Nicely structured, good word choice and great detail!

Keep it UP!

Dean2k13 :
Thanks! When writing these reviews I always look for good word choice to make them seem more appealing or interesting. So it isn't uncommon for these reviews to have some kind of good word choice in there. That also applies to the word "plot". I commonly use that too when discussing the categories.
Also I was think about changing the order of the category listings for a bit just to see how organized it can actually get. I'm not entirely sure yet but I guess it'll work out.
Thanks for the feedback.

Very interesting review and it looks like you have put your time into the review!
Like most reviewers, they use different words than standard words.
Most reviews just do one paragraph or they just did not put it in a thread.

Thanks! Took me about a few hours to really get it done.
I like to keep it at a number of 2 at the most for each contributing factor to a specific category.
