Alright Pokemon Red the first game in the Pokemon Series,I mostly play LeafGreen witch i the GBA Remake of Green but whenever i go all
the way back to Pokemon Generation 1 i play this.
Story
You are a 12 year old boy named Red(no its not Ash,you play as Ash in Pokemon Yellow).
Red has finally grown old enough to become a pokemon trainer and so has his rival Blue(not gary either...yea sorry for crushing those dreams).So the 2 boys go to Professor Oak's Lab, Oak is Blue's Grandfather(Oak seems to like you a bit more though..cool!) and he lets you choose from 3 Pokemon on his desk to take on your adventure through Kanto. The three Pokemon are Charmander,the fire pokemon Bulbasaur, the Grass Pokemon, and Squirtle the Water Pokemon and through out your adventure through Kanto you will fight your Rival until you reach the Elite four and have gotten all the Town Gym Badges and fight your rival in the final battle!
Gameplay
Pokemon is a very simple RPG you only have 6 Pokemon at once and only have one out at a time in this generation the battles are pretty easy
And the main focus of the game has "Type Advantages" Here's the Circle Grass beats Water,Water Beats Fire,Fire Beats Grass,Electric Beats Water,Ghost beats normal,Flying beats Fighting,Fighting beats Normal,Ghost Beats Fighting,And Bug Beats Phsycic,everything beats Rock except Normal and Physcic beats everything except Bug. Every Pokemon can only learn 4 moves witch is Wear you need some pokemon called "HM Slaves" witch are pretty much worthless Pokemon you catch to use your HM's on. HM's are pretty much moves you need to use outside of battle there are 5 ,CUT,FLY,SURF,FLASH,STRENGTH.Cut is used to cut down trees,Fly is used to fly to Pokemon Center's,Surf is used to go across bodies of water,Flash lights up dark caves and Strength is used to move boulders.You will encounter small building's called "Pokemon Center's" witch are Free Inn's that completly heal all your Pokemon in your party, In the PKMNCenters you will find a PC where you will store Pokemon when your party is full.Poke Mart's are where you buy your Potions,Antidotes all those normal RPG item's.Pokeball's are what you find in every poke mart(except the first one) and you will use these to catch pokemon, there are 4 pokeball's in this generation;Pokeball,Greatball,UltraBall and the MASTER ball! Pokeball is your normal ball you buy,Great and ultra balls have an easier tchance to catch a pokemon and the masterball is a GURANTEE CATCH...BUT there is only ONE in every game..use it
wisely kids.
heres how to catch a pokemon in a faster,Better way.Lower its health WITHOUT KILLING IT and just start chucking balls! it makes the catch rate easier so you dont waste 40 balls on a simple pikachu..
Graphic's
Pokemon has always pushed the hardware to its limits and remember we're going by how it was back then so this game looked AMAZING then 10/10 for gameboy standards.
Music
There is a song for every town,Route,opponent EVERYTHING and they're all real catchy..ill give it an 8.
Difficulty
For First time Pokemon player's its pretty average for any Pokemon expert? really easy game ill give it a 7 because most likely if you're reading this you're a first timer
Length
The game is the most Linear in the entire series simple A to B to C stuff not easy to get as lost as in later games
Overall i give it a 8.9
any one who has played Pokemon will know its a great game
Even if this game has Aged a bit especially the Pokemon sprites(i still like this version's sprites more than yellow's)
And the fact that every version has a different set of Pokemon make's trading a better idea
the game is overall a must play to any RPG and Nintendo gamer play it here and i hope you like it!
If you cant stand the graphics go play Leafgreen or FireRed for GBA.
