Man I hate laugh track! It's the reason I don't really watch TV that much, mainly because it's so annoying, they always laugh at something that's not funny. You should only use it like 4 or 5 times in a show rather than 20 or 30!

alexanyways : It's honestly not worth it. If the audience thinks it's funny then they will laugh. Why waste time and money editing in fake laughter when not everyone thinks its funny? I find myself usually laughing at shows in time where they deemed the track unneeded ( in other words I found something funny that they didn't even notice) and then at time when a lame joke is told I sit and watch in silence. It's a waste of time and money. I feel sorry for the person who has to spend their weekend watching the episode and placing in laugh tracks wherever they wished.

I grew up with the laughing track. So it's kind of weird for me to watch sitcoms without them. Heck, sometimes I even forget if there even was a laughing track!

No, no, no and no!!. I would say worse but I would get banded. Looking at the votes I'm happy I'm not the only one. This is about the only thing that irritates me about T.V other than adverts but adverts are kinda needed. Canned laughter? Why? It ruins a sit-com.

Maybe I don't like it because it is to cliché.

I really hate laugh tracks. I want to watch a fairly good sitcom like Zack and Cody, but then...every 5-10 seconds I hear laughing. They might as well say "Hey we just told a bad pun, so please laugh! Or hey I am having a casual conversation" *DAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAHAHHAHAHAHAH* *) For most sitcoms that use these (I said MOST not all) it essentailly the writers having a block and all they can think about is bad jokes, but hey we got to make an episode by saturday night! So they just try to see if the "Yawn effect" works with laughter even though it is the opposite effect and garuntees I won't laugh...

Personally, I don't care if it has a laugh track or not, but I'm gonna go with "With Laugh Track".

I agree they can kind of get in the way and I don't really need a cue on when to laugh because something is funny. I am capable of telling when something is funny or not and I don't need an annoying laugh track in the back. So yeah I think it kind of just gets in the way most of the time and like austipokedude said, I might miss some things because of it.

On some sitcoms it is okay, but most of the time I don't really like it, I find it annoying and I don't need a cue on when to laugh, I will decide what is and isn't funny. You bring up a good point man.

I grew up to a lot of the sit-coms with the old "laugh track", and today I don't mind it at times, but when it comes down to it, you could use an updated version of it. I feel like they've been using the same track for 30 years.

I don't mind the laugh tracks and hearing the laughing makes me smile too. I think that without the laughing it might be an awkward silence after some of the really funny jokes since I don't always laugh out loud when something is funny. There are shows like "Psych" that are great without the laugh track, but I think that sitcoms like "The Big Bang Theory" and "How I Met Your Mother" benefit from them.

I don't mind either way personally. when the laugh track is on, I feel that I am watching something with company. I do tend to watch a lot of sitcoms with laugh tracks, an example being The Big Bang Theory. But because I like the show, I have grown to block out the laugh track and imagine myself watching it without needing to hear the constant laughter.

There are some times when I don’t think something is funny and I hear the laughs and I go like “How was that funny?” But other than that, I do like them.

It's also a matter of familiarity. After 7 seasons of Big Bang theory and more than 50 episodes of How I Met Your Mother, I realize that I don't even notice the laugh track when watching. It has become familiar and the shows would sound a bit off without them.

Laugh Tracks are one thing that prevents me from watching sitcoms. If I find something funny, I'll laugh. I don't need some pasted in cue to tell me 'HEY! HEY! THIS IS FUNNY! SEE? LAUGH WITH THESE OTHER PEOPLE!'.
It just takes away from it and distracts me from even really WANTING to watch the show.

I hate laugh tracks. I find them very annoying, and, like you said, I don't need to be told when to laugh. The laugh tracks are actually really lame, and they make the jokes less funny.

They can get annoying at times, and I really don't like them at all. They serve little purpose, and are kind of insulting to the viewer, in that they insinuate that we aren't intelligent enough to know a joke when we hear it. Also, half the time they play, the comment wasn't even funny.

Still, almost every non-cartoon show that I watch uses them. I usually just tune them out, but sometimes that isn't possible.

I think it's way better without the laugh track.
It focuses on CERTAIN humor when everyone, who is watching a comedy, obviously has different sense of humor from one another. People are interested in shows for a natural reason, not by force which is what the laugh track does to ruin for people in general. We laugh when we want to laugh so why even add the laugh track? The laugh track is overrated these days.
