To be honest though, I'd prefer publicly answering these questions so that others can also get the answer.

Assuming you're talking about the Retro Game Room, there is no saving on Game Gear games.

Here are the only systems that support saving:
NES (with nescafe)
Sega Genesis
Game Boy Color & Game Boy (only on games which originally supported it)

I purchased and played Tails Adventure, closed the window and opened it from my profile and was able to play it again without troubles.
