gamerforlifeforever2 : Hmm probably, although if you have a semi decent internet connection and computer and live in the USA, lag shouldn't be an issue unless you are trying to netplay a larger file game.

I just think that not many of the users still don't fully understand what netplay is, or how to get started. It seems that a lot of people just come on here to do one thing. Play games. Many users don't read announcements, or come over to the forums at all, so they don't really know whats available.

I think that getting N64 netplay working would be a good start for some of the younger users, as well as getting GBA. Aside from those two options, just educating the older users that this stuff is available would go a long way. Main problem there is that we can't force people to READ...even when its RIGHT IN FRONT OF THEIR FACE

Anyways, what's your favorite game to do netplay on?

gamerforlifeforever2 : Might be the distance you are from the server, or the age or functionality of your computer. I've been netplaying on the site since it was available and rarely do I have issues. Even netplaying sessions of 5 or more people for PS1.

Although the users you are playing against could be bogging down the session too, depending on the same factors I mentioned before.

I don't know if I have a "favorite" game, because I like to netplay a bunch of games, but my favorite system to netplay would be NES.

If you could take David's place, what would you change on the website?

janus : Honestly David's job is pretty hard considering the type of site this is, and how hard it is to generate ad revenue when everyone is using Adblockers and the fact that he can't use Adsense due to the nature of the site.

I would first see if it's feasible to rebuild the plugin to load directly from the browser without having to knowningly install a plugin file. I think that scares away a lot of potential users whom aren't that computer savvy and can't work around small bugs, or get scared off downloading and installing files from strange websites that they've never heard of.

I would also try to update the look of the forums a little and change the "family friendly" policy a little bit. Meaning to just disallow nudity, or extreme abuse. That sort of stuff. I do like the fact that this site is a "safe zone" but some people take the "family friendly" statement way too strictly.

What is your favorite genre of game? least favorite genre?

janus : I like games in just about every Genre. But my favorites would either be RPG or Adventure.

My least favorite tend to be the games that are more button mashers, like Fighting games.

What was your very first (turn-based) RPG?

janus : I remember the first 3 turn based RPG's that I played were all on the NES. Dragon Warrior, Ultima: Exodus, and Final Fantasy.

Which one of these 3 did you prefer? Did you hate/ ended up hating one with time?

janus : I love all 3 of them for different reasons.

I guess Dragon Warrior and Ultima have probably aged worse among the 3 though. Mainly Ultima because of the battle system. Although it was innovative at the time, now it's kinda slow.

Dragon Warrior is ultra simplistic. Not a whole lot of different enemies and whatnot in that game. Pretty straight forward to beating it as well as long as you grind a LOT at the beginning.

Ugh, tell me about it. The early grinding must have been AT LEAST half my gameplay. How long did YOUR grinding last in Dragon Warrior?

janus : You know, I don't know an exact number with regards to these early games, but it's at least a couple hours if you really want to make the game easy when you get to the parts where you have to get the armor/sword/etc. (in Dragon Warrior)

gamerforlifeforever2 : I'm not sure about "Worst" but there are some pretty disappointing endings in several REALLY hard 8 and 16 bit games. Two that come to my mind right away are the ending to Ghostbusters for NES and the ending to Karate Kid for the NES.

legacyme3 : I believe you are probably capable of anything, since you tend to be unpredictable at times. I figure the worst thing anyone could do would be to post some sort of crazy snuff porn or something site wide.
