It depends on what kinds of games you like to play. There are a ton of great titles for PS1.

zanderlex : I've been to Magfest in National Harbor, MD and the Retro Gaming Convention in Portland, Or. I've also been so some smaller regional shows in the Chicago area, but that's about it.

Also years ago when I was in college I used to compete pretty regularly in regional gaming tournaments all around the West Coast.
