Today's new Nintendo Direct had a surprising bit of info today: The next Sonic game will be Sonic Lost World!

Not much is known about it as of yet, but it WILL be a Wii U/3DS exclusive game.

More will be revealed at E3 (June 11, 12, and 13).

It's Sonic, so I have no idea what 'Lost World' could possibly be, but I am a big Sonic fan so I will be looking a lot into this.

I would be much happier if this would have been released on the 360. Sonic feels natural on that controller, and I'm sure as heck not buying a wii U or 3DS for this game

ender44 : Well then, I'm sure you'll be disappointed to hear that the next three Sonic games will be Nintendo exclusive, now that Nintendo and SEGA entered what may or may not be a temp worldwide partnership. From what it looks like, those three will be Mario & Sonic Olympics, Sonic Lost World, and due to what may be a hint in some tweet, a Mario and Sonic Kart Racing game.

Plus, I think Sonic being on a Nintendo console for a bit is actually better. If you look at Colors' ratings, it was far higher than that of what Unleashed and 06 had received. And then came Generations, but that got great ratings because of nostalgia.

Plus, the Wii U's power should now be about equal to the PS3 maybe, and definitely better than the 360, which should help make Lost World a pretty amazing game.

Anyways, I think that a portion of the complaints will be because it's an exclusive for a new system around the time the series is finally picking itself back up.

MegaRevolution1 : A mario + Sonic Karting game could definitely work. Also, the WiiU is in fact the currently most powerful console available - until the PS4 comes out.

Looks interesting, but to be honest, slightly too cartoony for my tastes. But nonetheless, very good.

Looks like the first trailer has been released!

It looks a lot like Super Mario Galaxy to me, but still pretty good. I have some concerns, but I'll wait a bit to voice them.

MegaRevolution1 : That was certainly nothing I would expect from a Sonic game, but then again neither was Secret Rings and that was good. While that looked unmistakably childish I will give it the benefit of the doubt and hope that it is carried by the gameplay which Sega nailed perfectly in Colours and Generations.

Tails the Fox : To be honest, I wasn't a fan of Secret Rings' control styles (Tilting the remote), and felt like it kinda left me doing nearly nothing. And yeah, I didn't expect anything like this at all, really, and it does seem a bit too "childish", and even cartoon-y (I wanted the more realistic move its been going in, but meh, I can deal for one game). As long as it's fun to play, I'll have no problems with it.

MegaRevolution1 : It seems Sega love taking these large risks with their Sonic games. A prime example being Unleashed adding the werehog (which is a nonsense word) and it's gameplay style being too different to fit in.
It all comes down to gameplay. I don't care about how crappy new characters are as long as they don't screw up the old ones. (as they did in Sonic '06) I just hope Sonic plays how he does in Colours and Generations. If Sega have been learning anything from the reception their games have been getting then it should be hard for them to screw this one up.

Looks like a Sonic Colors 2. The game will probably be fun, anyways. Can't wait until it comes out, I'll be buying for either Wii U (If I get one) or 3DS.

Wow, that's quite interesting.  Hopefully they will make a good game instead of a half made disappointment.  The trailer doesn't mean anything about how the game will be like.  It is only just to build hype.  It may look good, but it will never tell how to actual game will be.  I'm just hoping that Sega will be able to redeem themselves with finally a good Sonic game. 

MoblinGardens : Sonic Unleashed (PS3/360 Day Levels), Sonic Colors, Sonic Generations. Three most recent canon Sonic games that were all "finally good".

In the trailer at 0:31, you can see some "classic" gameplay. But then the screen tips over. This might be a new gameplay mechanic they are putting in.

The game looks really good. It has just about everything you'd ask for in a Sonic game, and with a spin of things to add to it. It has a potential to be a great 3D Sonic game, and worth my buy.

It's about time Sega made a new sonic game. The graphics of the game looks very similar to the ones that were in Mario galaxy. This would probably explain why sonic lost worlds will only be for Nintendo. Can't say I'm surprised,  though. I mean, I sorta figured the next sonic game was only going to be for Nintendo. I just wish that Sega would have at least made sonic lost worlds for the xbox360. (Sigh) suppose it can't be helped. I will just have to wait for some random person on YouTube to make a video about the gameplay.

I watched a level commentary with both IGN and SEGA. As I watch it, I see some really exciting things that have been implemented. The many paths, the run button, the parkour, they are all things that I would like to see more.

The graphics aren't as good as generations, but that may be because the game isn't fully polished yet.

Well, there is now a Deadly Six Edition of Sonic Lost World! The Exclusive Content being pretty much the Bosses from NiGHTS into Dreams. So, if you Like NiGHTS into Dreams, you might like the Deadly Six Edition. The problem is that it's only available for pre-order... and I don't have a Wii U(and I'm sure a lot of you don't either)...
