My Thoughts On Fire Red?
Well, I believe it's a pretty darn good game. Sometimes it makes you want to throw your laptop at the wall and scream 'SCREW YOU POKEMON!'(I admit to doing this when trying to catch Electabuzz.) But mostly, you try to beat it and have as much fun as you can!
Graphics, well, I think they are pretty good. Like many others who think this, I wish it had animation graphics in the battles. I mean, c'mon, you have to admit that seeing some of the moves used while the Pokémon perform them instead of just standing still would be pretty awesome. And I just want to throw this out there, we should be able to design our own trainers. Now that, would be fun! So graphics, you earn a eight!
Sound eh? Well, in all honesty the sounds are pretty good. The music can get repetitive but I can live, because the music is pretty darn catchy! It would be nice to be able to mute the music on the game while you listen to some other music though, and if the Pokémon could say their names! That would help if you don't know how to pronounce some and don't want to look up how to pronounce them. So sound earns itself a nine!
Depth, depth, depth... Well, if you ask me, it has a nice depth, better then I first thought it would have. If your like me and see messages about everyday life in some games, you could find a few on this one, for sure! It would be nicer to have side missions that can keep you playing for a few extra hours though, and if we knew more about the character!(I am a stickler when it comes to knowing the character. And c'mon, we all want to play a Pokémon game a little longer don't we?) So, I rate this one a nine.
Ah Addictiveness, a thing I am very familiar with.(And I know fellow Pokémon fans are familiar with it, don't lie.) I rate a ten on this because of the simple fact it got me hooked. I love Charmander and its evolution's and always will. I also am a sucker for the weird little animals - And annoying technology ones too- and the battles just keep me wanting to play more and more until I drop from exhaustion!( Hasn't happen yet, but I have a feeling it will...) Plus, I get easily addicted to anything that cures my ever-lasting boredom.(I am surprised I don't have ADHD, and so are many others!)
Difficulty, oh difficulty... I rate it a seven because sometimes, it can frustrate you to no end and you can get lost easily if you don't pay attention.(Sadly, I have the don't pay attention thing going on.) Puzzles that are confusing and tricky, like Lt. Surge and Seafoam Islands. It's easy mostly, just catch Pokémon, fight gym leaders and trainers who challenge you, the basic gist of Pokémon we know and love(And sometimes hate).
And finally, we reach Story! I give story a six because, well... They could make it better, don't you agree? For example, they could give you more information about the character and his life, maybe include some friends of his that he bumps into and fights for fun, and the friends could give you more information about your character and his past. Although-I have to admit- it is sort-of fun to make up your own story for your character. Also, I believe they could add more onto the story. It gets tedious just doing: Catch Pokémon, fight, fight, sell stuff, find something... So on and so forth.
Well, this is my review on Pokemon Fire Red! I hope to see all of you on the journey to becoming a Pokémon Master!
