Hey guys,

I was wondering if you guys were with me in agreeing that 3DTV is a gimmick? I mean, it's cool in a lot of ways, but most people I know who have 3DTV don't even use it the 3D part.

What about you guys? Do you use it? Is it a gimmick?

I do not see the attraction. They require the glasses and even the 3DS 3D, which doesn't is not worth using. I don't use 3D no matter what situation. I am simply not interested in it. I never feel it enhances anything except for first person games, since they are in first person.

I have 3-D TV's and I like it but there aren't enough good quality movies out to really enjoy the 3-D, but I think 3-D mode is going to be the next big thing out, kinda like the switch from antenna TV to just cable TV or satellite. I think this because eventually I think once 3-D Tv's catch on and everyone can afford the luxury of having one, TV shows will start airing in 3-D.

marcus047 : Do you not find it annoying to have to wear 3D glasses for watching TV? I much prefer how the 3DS does it, and I don't even use it there.
It hurts eyes after a while as well.

tails the fox : This is true the 3DS is a killer on the eyes but I don't mind wearing the glasses for the TV since I wear glasses anyways but ultimately it all comes down to the public's opinion of the product, if enough people like it then it will happen.

I dislike 3D TV's to be honest, I mean what is the point to them? You have to sit there wearing those silly glasses, which break really easy from what I have been told. Its bad enough going to a movie and wearing those 3D glasses, just makes the movie darker in my opinion. Just seems like a good way to get people to spend more money on something they don't really need to me. I am more than happy to have a normal TV and feel comfortable while watching it.

I can definitely agree with most of you on that. It's a pain on the eyes and it's just kind of gimmicky. I don't like the glasses at all, either, because I don't think you shouldn't have to have some extra product to help you watch television. I'd rather just stick to my HDTV, to be honest.

Are the 3D movies just as bad? I haven't been in one, and I'm not really intending to unless I hear it's better than 3DTV.

Yeah, I don't want to be uncomfortable with wearing flimsy 3d glasses all the time, it is so annoying, I would be fine with just a nice big flat screen TV, and those kinds of Tvs will more than likely be a fortune to pay for. And in the movies it is ridiculous with the additional price for seeing a movie in 3D, the glasses cost like $5 extra per person, and there are 5 people in my family, that is 25 dollars extra that don't need to spent on a 3D movie that still looks nice and clear in a regular 2D movie theater. They are doing this for like every movie now, like 1 normal and a 3D movie edition too. I also think it is strange that they are re doing all the Disney movies all in 3D blu- ray as well like the lion king and all of those movies, probably to make another fortune out of it. I just think 3D anything is a waste of money, when 2D movies look very clear and nice without paying a fortune extra to watch them. So no I don't really like 3D all that much for the prices it is in the movie theaters

It isn't a gimmick it just feels like it.
I mean it just doesn't actually have that much to watch due to limitations

3D-TV is just annoying. Those TV's that have a 3D option are upwards of 2,000, and they only have like 10 channels in 3D. Plus, the 3D isn't even that good. I hope it doesn't take off, or else I'm going to have to see everything in 3D (which frankly gets really annoying).

I think 3D TV is a gimmik. For me 3D never seems to work all that well, and it strains my eyes.
