Try laying your head down and empty your mind and just do simple breathing.

On average it takes your brain one hour to "cool down" after doing something that requires your attention. This includes playing videogames, watching TV, or being on the computer. So... I recommend getting off your computer and turning off all distracting electronics at least one hour before you plan to fall asleep.

Make sure you are sleeping in a *completely* dark room. If light is coming through the door or windows, find some way to cover the light source. Also make sure that your room is a comfortable temperature and humidity.

Try listening to something relaxing, or something like "white noise". A fan running helps certain people. Personally I like to listen to an MP3 recording of rain and ocean sounds.

This might not work for you, but it does for me.
Sometimes I also like to listen to people who have recorded relaxing talking and put it on Youtube. There are literally thousands of these videos uploaded, and it ranges from people doing guided meditations, to talking about recipes, to reading books, to rambling about their day. All you do is focus on the sound of their voice - It really helps me keep my own distracting thoughts out of my head, so I can calm down and fall asleep a lot easier. I think this stems from my dad reading to me before bed when I was a child.

I always find slight background noise helps me, I generally leave my TV on a low volume. Just to have the little bit of noise, to help me drift off.
I'm not sure if you have tried this or not, but it might be worth a try you never know.

Try reading a book. I usually just read for 30 min, then drift off while I read. If that doesn't work, you can to the usual counting sheep, or just counting numbers. If you are still awake after like an hour after you wanted to go to sleep, you can always go downstairs, and do something simple quietly, like play with cards for 20-30 min. I find that doing something simple yet boring usually does the trick, and gets me to sleep.

When I struggle to sleep, (Which is rather constantly) I usually either listen to music.. Or I read a book.. I don't know why but reading relaxes me and makes my mind settle and finally after reading for a few hours.. I get a few hours sleep...

Also usually stressing about not being able to sleep.. Usually leads to you not being able to sleep.. WHO WOULD HAVE KNOWN!

You could always lay off the sugary foods.. It's hell when you're used to not sleeping much but it works..

There are certain things that might need to be met:
-your room must be colder than the rest of the house
-keep your room dark (this lets your mind know that this is the Sleeping room')
-plan to lay down an hour before bedtime
-if your sensitive to light, wear a sleeping mask
-make up a bedtime story while you lay down (I often fall asleep before finishing)
- no eating before bed!
-no exercise before bed

If all this doesn't help, I'd suggest taking  some Melatonin, which is a natural chemical in your brain that helps you fall asleep. You can find it in the vitamin section of pretty much any market. Its natural, so you won't get addicted to it, but I wouldn't take it for more than a few nights in a row. It's supposed to re-balance your own chemical levels, so try it for one night as directed and see if that helps. (as always, if you are taking any meds, consult your doctor before taking anything)

"G.N.C." sells "Melatonin" a natural Sleep aid.
But
You are ......13.
So I recommend getting rid of any thing that stimulates the brain. No lights and No noise.
If you skipped a meal?
Eat something.

Good Luck To All.
Peace.

It is always easier to fall asleep for me if my day has made me tired. Sometimes I can not get to sleep because I have done nothing in the day.
