Intro: Ms Pac-Man, was technically a sequel to Pac-Man, it had a similar success, and of course had numerous home console ports. Some being worse then others. There's just something that ruins the handheld versions, hum.... let me think here.... what was the problem... OH YEAH! The screens, the screens on portable systems back then, limited the maze, and forced it to scroll. This Game Gear port is actually pretty good. Not only does it look better then the arcade, it literary upgrades it.
Gameplay A: As you would expect, Ms Pac-Man, on any system, even on the god awful Game.Com, would stand the test of time. Despite the scrolling screen, Ms Pac-Man on the Game Gear is fun, addicting, and satisfying. This comes to no surprise, the control is responsive, and fluid, and the new mazes are designed very well. If you don't like the scrolling screen, you can switch the game to half mode. In this mode, you can make the whole maze be visible on screen. The only disadvantage, is that its super small (on a real Game Gear), and its hard to see anything due the extremely low resolution.
Graphics A-: The visuals are very faithful to the arcade. They actually look better then the arcade. Everything is multicolored and very detailed. Even the cut-scenes are very well done.
Sound A-: The sound is pretty good, but it sounds like every thing has a deeper pitch then in the arcade. Its okay though nothing that will truly effect the rating.
Addictiveness A: This game has that nature, of making you want to play it over, and over again. This game is great for high score, but you can play to see how many mazes you can go through. It's fun seeing all the different mazes. It helps the addictiveness rating.
Depth B: The added variety of mazes really makes this feel like a deluxe version of Ms Pac-Man. Its still shorter then most Game Gear games though.
Overall Rating A
