I loved that show as a kid but I decided to watch the first episode all over again and unfortunately didn't like it as much as I did as a kid so I practically don't like the show anymore.

Code Lyoko was one of the better animated shows in the last 10 years and frankly its in my top 3 in terms of shows that have aired on Cartoon Network(Star Wars: Clone Wars and Young Justice take 1 and 2 for me with Teen Titans(2003-2006 version and not the comedic mockery that's on now taking spot #4). I'm not a fan of shows that have a drastic metamorphosis(2D -> Live Action) but I thought they did pretty good with the casting(Melanie Tran is hot as Yumi). I only have 3 problems with the show. 1) They removed 2 of the original sectors and the reasoning is frankly retarded. Supercomputer being offline for too long? Dare I ask how Aelita survived for 9 years if this is there reasoning? 2) Xana attacks are surprisingly bland and weak. For having the real world scenes being Live Action, the Xana Attacks aren't as scary or frightening as they were in the animated version. Its like someone went and neutered Xana for crying out loud. 3) Can someone please get Aelita a fashion expert and hairstylist? For being the central character of the show, she looks nothing like the Aelita I knew from Seasons 1-4. The actress playing her is just fine but aesthetically she looks nothing like Aelita.

Yes I remember it, it's a shame they ended it, but they did make a crappy live action version called code lyoko evolution or something like that. But it's still not as good as the anime version.

TechnoDragon77 : No problem. Many CL fans don't even KNOW about Evolution and those that find out and see the drastic changes, particularly the 2D -> Live Action change, its such a shock that they think the show is a pile of crap. I suppose years and countless failures at translating animated shows to live action has generated this prejudice when in reality, at least to me, Evolution is not that bad of a show(could have been far worse(see Airbender movie)). The school scenes are at the ACTUAL school the show is based on and the 3D Lyoko is actually better than from Season 4(despite the loss of 2 sectors or William looking like an Undead Vampire).

If I was making Evolution or had the power to go back in time to change things(ironic no?), I would make the following changes(some of these I brought up in my critique):

1) Restore Lyoko to its former glory(aka Forest Sector and Ice Sector are not removed). Lyoko was known for having 4 sectors(5 if you include the core or Carthage) and the Facebook game has you start IN the Forest Sector. If you want to boost the popularity of the show with a FB game, why in the bloody hell would you remove the sector the game has you start out in? Plus their reasoning for those sectors no longer being there is just flat out bad. If you lose 2 sectors for the computer being off-line for too long(which in this case is a year), how did Aelita survive when the computer was off-line for at least NINE YEARS. Their logic just flat out doesn't make sense, even for the casual fan who's watched the show and knows that Aelita spent a long time on Lyoko.

2) Improve Xana attacks. If your going to make the change to Live Action, at least make the effort at making Xana look like a bad-ass evil AI when he attacks. Don't have specters that move like molasses, act like Frankenstein when walking, or just stand there looking like a smart-ass idiot(see episode 6). You would think with an artificial intelligence that, to quote Jeremy, is virtually flawless that it would be more frightening when attacking and knows that when you got the group cornered in the Gym with 3 specters to use two of them while the 3rd guards the exit.

3) Keep the characters from the old show. Elizabeth "Sissi" Delmas was in A LOT of episodes during the first 4 seasons and yet has a small cameo appearance in episode 9(the fact shes a blonde in Evolution is another issue). Haven't even seen Hiroki(Yumi's brother), Herve and Nicholas, Milly and Tamiya and finally Kiwi(although in episode 18 they reveal that Odd leaves him with his sisters). It would mean more people to cast but I don't really care.

4) Revert back to the old opening theme. I know with Evolution they wanted it to be like an entirely new show but honestly, their new opening theme just sucks in my opinion. I mean a fan went out of their way to make this: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=DAbQnY1Mf4E In other words, if its not broken, don't screw with it. Un Monde Sans Danger, or A World Without Danger for us English folk, was an awesome theme song and it should have stayed that way.

5) Do some proper editing. Even if your a fan of the show's first 4 seasons, you will agree with me 100% on this point that whoever was in charge of editing or fixing mistakes dropped the ball on countless occasions. These issues continued in Evolution, which is just sad frankly. An example would be in Episode 14. Yumi purposely gets devirtualized and a few minutes later they show her embarking back onto the Skid. Seriously... did ANYONE watch the show to catch mistakes or anomalies(like why Ulrich is standing next to Jeremy when hes still on Lyoko). That is TV/Film 101 mistake right there and is inexcusable.

6) Give the fans what they want. I know I will be feeding shippers here but YxU shippers have been demanding since Season 1(episode 22 to be exact) that Ulrich and Yumi kiss(they ALMOST kiss in episode 22 while on Lyoko, hence their incessant demand for it). They've yet to do that in Evolution, despite a golden opportunity in Episode 14(while in the woods). I mean even Jeremy and Aelita haven't kissed yet in Evolution(and there was a good opportunity early on in episode 6 in Jeremy's room). Its almost like they're resisting the romance at every turn in Evolution and yet in reality with teenage hormones, you know darn well that wouldn't be happening.
