If you're computer is having troubles detecting Sims 3 game after you've installed it, which is preventing you from playing it, than you're at the right place, I've a quick and simple fix.

First of all, this is probably the error you're getting:
Disc Authentication Failure
No Game disc found! Please insert the sims 3 game disc.

If the above error is what you’re getting, you’ve come to the right place. Or if you simply want to know how to play your game without the disc in your computer, this is also the right place.

NOTE: This will only work on legit copies of the game! I do not condone pirating, especially of an awesome game like this!



This will take only a few minutes to fix! Here are the steps:

1. First you'll need to download this file

2. Extract the file you downloaded (with a pc, right click file and choose 'Extract All...').

3. Now you must find the folder the game was installed to:

If you're using Windows Vista, Browse to the following location on your computer:
C:Program Files (x86)Electronic ArtsThe Sims 3GameBin
(if you're using internet explorer, you can copy the above location and paste it into your address bar in this window and the folder will pop up in a separate window)
If you can't find it, click the Circle with the Windows Flag in it at the bottom corner of your screen, than go to Computer, than go to Local Disk (C:) than go to Program Files, than go to Electronic Arts, than go to The Sims 3, than go to Game and than go to Bin (please note that it may not show the files and ask you if you want to show the files, it's safe to show the files)

If you're using Windows XP, Browse to the following location on your computer:
C:Program FilesElectronic ArtsThe Sims 3GameBin
(if you're using internet explorer, you can copy the above location and paste it into your address bar in this window and the folder will pop up in a separate window)
If you can't find it, go to My Computer, than go to Local Disk (C:) than go to Program Files, than go to Electronic Arts, than go to The Sims 3, than go to Game and than go to Bin (please note that it may not show the files and ask you if you want to show the files, it's safe to show the files)

If you're using a Mac, Browse to the following location on your computer:

4. Drag the files from that extracted folder from step 2 into this folder that you just browsed to (be sure to replace the files already in that bin folder).

5. Now when you go to play the game, it should work right away! Also note that you can now play the game without the disc if you want.

To sum things up, you basically just need to extract that file into the bin folder of the Sims 3 installation folder


That's it! The game should work just fine now. Enjoy

Nevermind , it was because I was using Internet Download Manager and it had a conflict for some reason, works now, will check on if this really solves the problem, if so, ill worship you forever, been trying to figure all night who to solve this out

I think this may only work if you have the legal copy of the game too, ive seen on some forums that people who downloaded the game cant get the cd cracks to work, not sure, but i know for sure if you have the legal game for pc, are using vista and use davids fix, everything should work out fine, i just put like an O at the end to keep the original files, like TS3O.exe on my originals so i didnt overwrite them, they are still there, then just moved the others into the bin folder, anyway thanks again david

i draged all files to the bin and and i still have to go to the bin folder to play it, it says one file was being used somewere else or somthing, the one with a gear as a pic

Ok that is beyond my fix than. The fix in this thread is simply to help people get the game working after they get the disc authentication error.

It could be that your computer isn't powerful enough or your graphics driver isn't up to date.

The game loads and you get that little movie thing at the start and then it loads but as soon as it gets to the Neighbourhood choosing thing it comes up no disc found etc..

It worked perfectly. The patch that came with the game was the exact same size but didn't work the way this one did. I honestly can't figure out why that is the case but I'm glad this was here. Not that I'm dying to play the game but because I'd be mad to have downloaded 6 gig's worth of a game that I now can't play.

To get this to work on the Mac, it's actually pretty simple. I've taken the instructions from the beginning and edited them a bit.

You see, the Mac uses the same files as Windows does; they're just deeper down. Here, take a look. Here's the steps.

1. First you'll need to download this file

2. Extract the file you downloaded by double clicking on it.

3. Now you must find the folder the game was installed to.

To get this to work on the Mac, it's actually pretty simple. I've taken the instructions from the beginning and edited them a bit.

You see, the Mac uses the same files as Windows does; they're just deeper down. Here, take a look. Here's the steps.

tried this. and it hasnt worked! i get into the neighbourhood choosing screen and get the "please insert disc" message again.
i dont have the DLA tab in the properties bar either so the second link doesnt help at all.
and now when i put in the disc it doesnt get recognised at all!
can anyone help me?? i just spent hours downloading and making sure my Windows Vista Drivers were up to date and i really what to play this game!

YESSSSS, i just got back home and tried to fix it and it worked!! i just put the files in the wrong folder, when i went to my bin folder i clicked another folder inside of it named bin and put my files there. i was supposed to put my files in the original bin folder. FYI im running vista

If you're using Windows Vista, Browse to the following location on your computer:

If you can't find it, click the Circle with the Windows Flag in it at the bottom corner of your screen, than go to Computer, than go to Local Disk (C:) than go to Program Files, than go to Electronic Arts, than go to The Sims 3, than go to Game and than go to Bin (please note that it may not show the files and ask you if you want to show the files, it's safe to show the files)
