Marine Basic

I took my gal Down Mexico way, 
Had rum and tequila 'till the room did sway. 
She taught me how to dance, I taught her to sing, 
On the way past the border I gave her a ring.

While her eyes were shining full of lust, 
Told her my duty was enlist or bust. 
She cried at first, but then was proud, 
"Semper Fi" she shouted, clear and loud. 

They shaved off my hair, gave me a gun, 
Told me the future was nothing but fun, 
I loaded the car with all of our stuff, 
Never believed good-byes would be that tuff.

Now I'm marching with the proud, the few, 
Two more months and basic is through. 
My gal is waiting, lonely but proud, 
Growing and growing with our first child. 

Note: This is a Marine cadence, so I don't quite understand it. I do not know if we have any Marine members on this site. If we do, please message me or one of the mods.

I remember a bit from basic.  It was many years ago.

The cadence went "1,2.... 3, 4" "Marine Corps!"

So:

Army, Navy ain't the place for me.
MARINE CORPS
Air force is just a'too easy
MARINE CORPS
I wanted something just a little bit more
MARINE CORPS
So I went and joined the Corps
MARINE CORPS
Parris Island where it all began
MARINE CORPS
A little rock with a'lots of sand
MARINE CORPS
And don't forget about Hollywood
MARINE CORPS
San Diego, and it's all good
MARINE CORPS
First step, they break you down
MARINE CORPS

I forget the rest but it keeps going.

Most of the ditties we sang are too violent or offensive for this forum.  Children being murdered, having our way with women, that sort of thing.  It's a tough business and nothing keeps killers motivated like singing about violence.
