This month's Speed Run competition is for 'Castlevania' for the Nintendo NES. You can play it here:
https://www.vizzed.com/playonlinegames/game.php?id=156

The point of this competition is to beat the game as fast as you can.

VIDEO REQUIRED: Along with taking a screenshot with the plugin of the ending screen, you must also post a video of yourself beating the game. You must use the RGR Plugin's built in video recording capabilities. You can upload the video to any youtube account but you must add it to the game's page and also post a link to it in this thread.

RULES: You MUST play the game using the RGR Plugin in 'Timetrial Mode' and take a screenshot of the ending screen by pressing F6 when you've completed the game. To play in 'Timetrial Mode', scroll down the page where it shows the Speed Runs, you'll see a link that says 'Click Here to Compete for Speed Run', click that. Once you've taken your screenshot, click the link near that one that says 'Click Here to Submit your Speed Run' to submit your speed run.

Prizes:
1st = 10,000 Viz
2nd = 2,500 Viz
3rd = 1,000 Viz

Competition begins now.

Davideo7 : One day... you may select a game that i feel compelled to compete in.... One day...

Good luck to everyone that does enter and complete the game... I'd take part myself but this game frustrates me

I have beaten this game without save states several times but to do a speed run is going to be tough. There are 2 levels that once you get to the boss you probably have half (Or less of your life) The Grim reaper is one of them..and if you don't have the equipment you need to beat him easily you are out of luck.

I just tried for my first run through and got to the GR ...but I had to make dinner. I will make another attempt later.

Also I noticed I was trying to record the footage of this game while doing the run..and it split it up into 3 files. I've never noticed that before...

Jordanv78 : Yeah, if the file is too big (over 2 GB in size, I think), it splits it. You can join them together when you convert in Freemake, though.

Also, I'm gonna have to remove your time because the screenshot is not of the ending.

sonikku : That never has happened to me before when recording using the RGR, and I've had files that were almost 8 gigs. It must just be something with the NES default emulator.

Ok I guess about the screenshot. It's not my last attempt or anything.

SuperCrash64 : Yes, Freemake reduces file size. But you can't reduce the file size until you have a RAW video to put into Freemake, i.e. the recording itself, and you can't delete the recording until Freemake finishes converting the file, so at minimum, you need enough disk space to store the RAW footage AND the converted footage. Converting the footage just makes it faster to upload.

And it's not exactly hard to upload videos to Youtube. Just make them unlisted so that only people looking at the video on Vizzed can see the video.

Jordanv78 : It happened to me on most of the Kirby's Adventure videos I recorded through Mednafen at the end of last month.

I just gave it another shot and I can get to the Grim Reaper without using one continue...the problem lies there. Once you get to the area that you need to avoid the madusas and the knights..that is a notoriously hard area. Once you get to the GR your health is probably half (if you are doing good) or lower. Usually at that point it's one shot from him and you are dead...and if you don't have a good special weapon you are in trouble.

I can tell you this is going to be very challenging.

   I definitely have to go buy a controller tomorrow! I did a practice run today on the top loader and beat it using only one continue. Can't wait to see where I stack up. Love the site.

   Man I'm not good at stuff. So I'm trying to upload my run onto youtube. I've never uploaded anything before mind you, I'm bad with technology. So it says it will take 19 hours to upload! I decide to let it run its course and after the first video ends it tells me I need to get authorization to post long videos. So I do that, they actually call your phone and give you a code. So I put that in and it says congratulations! You can post longer videos. Check to see the status of it this morning and it says videos deleted due to excessive time?!
 I would love to win some Viz in this tournament. But I think I might be to dumb to do so!! My time was only 52 minutes anyways which was only good for 3rd.

sonikku : well i had a 8 gb video file and freemake converted it to 5.25 kb. you dont really need to have a raw video file just convert it into a avi file freemake will support any file as long as its video and the avi files dont take up a whole lot of space . if you still having trouble with the program you can reinstall it. . and by the way i did not say anything about uploading videos being hard   i was just saying that the video uploader was down for a few weeks. that s all i said

    Here is my first attempt at this Castlevania speed run. It wasn't pretty but it was a starting point. I did a few nice things in it though. I entered a boss fight with one bar of life and survived and I also beat Death without holy water. Besides that it was a mess....
   Thank you to everyone here at vizzed who made this easy for me. As of a week ago I had no idea how to upload or compress or use a freemake video device. I am looking forward to getting in some of these competitions now!

SuperCrash64 : I've had experience with video making, as I used to do Let's Plays on Youtube. And I'm saying that you still need the space to have the raw video on your hard drive. You can't convert something that isn't there, so you actually do need the raw video so you can convert it in the first place.

And I don't see how you managed to convert an 8 GB video into 5.25 KB unless you sacrificed a LOT of quality for it. You're basically telling me you shrunk the video down to under .0001% of its original size.

Finally, I don't know where you got me having trouble using Freemake from. I never said I had trouble using the program in any of my posts, nor have I ever actually had problems with the program since installing it.

SuperCrash64 : That's more reasonable. 549MB is more sane than 5.25KB. That's a figure I would expect from conversion.

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
