What is your favorite and least favorite things about the military?

My favorite would have to be the family feeling you get. People actually care about you.

My least favorite would have to be the hours. >.<

If you mean about being IN the military, I am afraid I cannot answer.

But the military in general? Well, my favorite thing about them is how they are risking their lives for those that can not or will not. I am one who simply will not, as I have problems with authority and do not feel like being punished for thinking for myself. I can appreciate those who make such sacrifices as it is something I could not stand for, not to mention the whole possibility of getting killed and all.

My least favorite thing? Well, as a small, off-topic note, I feel like that phrase is trying to describe something you like, but is at the bottom of your list, instead of actually meaning something you do not like.

But I would have to say that I do not like the commercials and ads the military has out to lure in young people with promises of money and college education, and trying to say you probably will not be called into active duty... I knew some of my classmates looked to join the army just to have, what they thought, an easier time than having to spend money on college and, as one put it, "get a rocking body!" I feel the tactics used in these ads were misleading; the military is much more serious than that!

And, to tack on one more thing, I also dislike that all men have to at least register with the military when they turn eighteen (in the USA). I severely hated doing so, and wanted to refuse, but all those "it is illegal to not register" messages scared me into it. I know it is not the same as joining the military, but it bothers me that should a draft ever somehow become approved again, they could try to draft me. Which, I admit, I would NOT comply with.

ruesen : I can promise you a draft is not going to happen. There are so many people trying to join the Army right now, but they can not make it for one reason or another. If the Army had need to get more soldiers... they would get the number they needed in a heartbeat.

And yeah, just in general... you don't have to necessarily be in the Armed Forces to answer this question.

Being in the military has is pros and cons. In it, you live a strict life, which can be easy to do once you've been in for while but can also become tiresome and annoying. In the civilian world you have to fend for yourself, meaning you're responsible for your life as far as dental, medical insurance, getting help for physical and psychological problems. Either way, there are things to hate and to love about both sides of living.

Cyro Xero : well, I guess that would be one way of putting it, wouldn't it? And the grogs are the worst... Ugh. The initiations suck so much, dude. XD You know what I mean?

I haven't served in the military myself, but I grew up with a dad in the air force, and I'm married to a man who's father is very high ranking in the army, so I still get to be around the armed forces quite often.  I've got to say I miss living in the communities though.  Every time I visit with my in- laws, I long to be surrounded by that environment again.  Most people in the armed forces are disciplined, polite, and caring.  Even the people who work in the commissary's go out of their way to bring people's groceries to their cars... and they never complain about it either.  They're ready to serve with a smile and wish you a good day.

This is probably my favorite aspect of the armed forces.  I love the people and the lifestyles they live.  Of course, there are always exceptions and things not necessarily seen, but all walks of life are this way.

Theres not a massive amount of like/dislike toward the military for me.
I dislike the battles being chosen, but thats the government.
I dislike the abuses of power.
But i think thats limited to a few bad eggs.
I dislike how many people join purely because they want to be looked up to as well. That is the wrong reason to join.
The people that look forward to the fights as well. Being eager to kill people is disturbing, they need a psychiatrist.
On the rare occassion that there are justified aggresions i like aspects of the military, depending on whether they are fighting for the right reasons.
Its really hit and miss, i treat military personel the same as civy's

thing1 : My favorite thing is that they have fought for us, and they are noble to the USA. I appreciate how confident they are, and what they fought for. They have earned my respect, and will not be losing it any time soon. My least favorite thing is dying in battle K.I.A ( killed in action). As much as I like serving this country I also like to live and live in it. That's my least favorite. thing1 : Well no I am only a kid, but I plan on being in it when I get older. And just incase you ask the air force.

thing1 : I am 12 and I don't think I did yet am I supposed to take it at a certain age or anything like that or grade. And Pm me this because We are sandwich posting and going off topic probly.

My favorite thing about the Corps. would have to be the companionship. There is no stronger bond than that built between brothers in the heat of battle. Serving together every day and growing to know each other like no one else can. 

My least favorite? The guys who thought they'd enjoy killing some one. I have a thought process on that which will never change. Any man who enjoys taking a life? I don't want him on my six. I don't want him anywhere near me. Other than that? Butter bars. Always think they are the greatest thing around till their superiors show up. Then they brown nose like you wouldn't believe, the second brass steps away? Right back to the genital measuring.
