How do you explain to a normal person that the show is good without being called gay or homo for liking it, because I would like to a friends outside of the internet to talk to about MLP.

tyranit : Even though society now has a much greater tolerance for the unusual, some people still will look down on us for these things. First things first, are these friends of yours open to open to things that aren't within gender expectations? If not, you might want to avoid talking about it unless they are genuinely curious. Sometimes people will say, "why do you people watch this show" because they want to voice their displeasure at seeing it rather than wanting to learn.

Aren't cutie marks a very restrictive way to limit a pony to perform a certain role of society?

Unrelated, how believable would it be to write Daring Doo as a former stage assistant of Trixie?

TheGreatAndPowerfulTrixie : Depends on what you mean be "restrictive." Some cutie marks cover broader areas than others. Fluttershy's cutie mark doesn't restrict her to caring for tiny, innocent animals; we have seen her stare down a cockatrice and talk a dragon into moving to a better home. Rainbow Dash's cutie mark doesn't restrict her to one aspect of flying, she deals with Ponyville's weather while still training to be a Wonderbolt. How about Twilight's? Is it "restrictive" that she only deals with magic? She still takes the time to learn other things with the old-fashioned bookworming.*

I will admit that some cutie marks seem a bit more narrow. Twist's cutie mark has her dealing with candy. Sounds limited, but then again we're talking about Equestria and not the United States.

As for what I can only assume would be a fanfic idea, I'll give an answer, but I wouldn't want it to hold you back form any ideas you have. I can kind of see Daring Do as a former stage assistance, but there is one aspect of the adventurer that could deny it. Since Daring Do is Equestria's version of Indiana Jones she's probably older than Trixie. I have heard that the Mane 6 are considered, if we are going by human years, their late teens to early or mid twenties. Personally, if what I just said is true, I would imagine that Trixie is right in that age range. Remember, this is just my opinion on the subject.

How did we figure out Derpy Hooves name?

bigger0gamer : It started out back in the very first episode. When Pinkie Pie is talking to Twilight Sparkle, you can see a grey mare in the background with her eyes looking in weird directions giving her a "derpy" appearance. Thus, Derpy Hooves was born.

Here's a little something extra. I actually met E the Pony at Bronycon 2014. He said he actually met with the animator who made Derpy and said that it was intentional, not an animation error. Do I believe it? Not sure, but I want to.

Let me clear this up, how did we learn what her name was (how did we find out she was named Derpy)? I already know who she is

bigger0gamer : Ah. Okay. It all started as a fan name, and Hooves is still technically her fan name. It was in The Last Roundup that Derpy was made her official name as a nod to the fans. Does that answer your question?
