Jordanv78 : I could say the same for myself, though I'm much further behind of course. I haven't really been doing much at all in this competition but the reasons are the same.

I got off to a slow start (though I did in Fall as well... I still gained a few points here and there in the early goings that time).

There aren't enough threads that are worth contributing to and I too refuse to partake in spam. In the fall competition, I hang in there well mostly because I didn't have as high standards for myself. I was new and didn't care. Now I'm actually invested in the community and as a moderator, try to set a good example.

The server issues discouraged me as well but it's more than just that. They happened at the ideal time for me to actually start getting into the competition. I had 4 days in a row off from work and it was the middle of the competition which is the point at which I can rack up the most points (roughly 16 a day)... but I was unable to do so because I could never get any posts or page loads to ever go through. I've won only 2 jerseys this time which is pretty pathetic.

The board began to function again just fine the day I went back to work... so it's pretty much opportunity lost at this point.

Thank you for the votes of confidence, but I don't count it finished until the end. I have bad days, (like yesterday-notice I didn't get any points yesterday!) And as Crazy Li said, there's days when there's just not a lot to post on. 

The only thing I'm going to say is about my reviews. Do I finish the games? No. But I try to put in at least 3 to 4 solid hours of game play into every game I review. Some of them longer, of course...and only one short, which was the Clocktower review...but I said in the review clearly where I quit and why. Even the naked baby game got three hours of game play before I finally quit and wrote the review.

I work at a job where for 8 hours I can sit and almost do nothing but play games and talk online. I'm just incredibly lucky that way. So even though it might look like I'm just skimming games, I am actually playing them. I also don't feel it's necessary to beat a game to get the full feeling of what the game is like. I indicate in my reviews if I plan on finishing the game or not; it's part of the addictiveness score that I give them if, after four hours of playing, I'm willing to invest any more time into the game after the review is over and I'm playing for fun.

The length of my reviews isn't padding, either. I have a naturally verbose, conversational writing style that comes from an excellent education, a life long love of words, and, frankly, the fact that I'm 34 and have been writing my whole life.  I was taking advanced composition classes when I was still in middle school and my first published (paid!) work came at the tender age of nine. (A short story in a nationally syndicated magazine that has since gone out of business, but I still have a copy I got fifty dollars for it.) Some reviews are naturally longer than others. I write until I've said everything I want to say, and then I quit, whether it ranks number one in the red jersey or not.

I will continue to review games after the TDV, and they will continue to be long and detailed and hopefully at least a little witty. The wit is up to the reader, but I amuse myself, so that's all I really care about.

In reality, anyone can grab the green jersey with ease. I guess recently its been the easiest considering that he had a mere 10 posts, which isn't much at all. I guess its time for some people to take in Jerseys if they want a shot at some decoration with names.
