First let me be clear in saying that I am talking about toys.

What kind of toys did you play with as a kid, that aren't around any more?  I'm not referring to things like pogo sticks and McDonald's happy meal toys.

I mean things like pogs.  Did anybody collect them?  Does anyone even know what I'm talking about?
I remember being so excited when my dad brought home new pogs, and I loved the fact that he gave each one of his children a special slammer.  I really miss those days.

What else did we play with as kids?

Singelli : OMG. I remember playing with those when I was like 5!! Good times!!! They would come in potato chips bags and my friends and I would have days when we would bet on them. LOL. XD
But... Hmm, A toy... I think It would be DIGIMON THINGIES!!! I dont know the name but if you all know the  original Digimon series, they had their little device. I had this exact one!!
Ahh, Also Pokemon balls and cards... I had almost all 150... BACK IN MY DAY, THERE WERE ONLY 150 POKEMON! I know... its shocking! :o
I had a looot of more toys which were mostly all from anime. lmao, Anime is really popular in Mexico City, were I lived until I was 6, once we moved to AMERIKKUUHH (U.S.A) my childhood ended. I lived with an aunt and she had a rule that there was no fun allowed in her house and that I had to do all this religious stuff, which is why dislike that religion now.
But then, I remember being like 9 and playing with tamagachi toys! Those are fun little things, I had like 5, LOL.  ( They were all the friends I needed. ;__;  )

Ooooh yeah, Gigapets was the other one I was going to mention... thanks for reminding me!  I thought of that yesterday when writing a review, then randomly thought of pogs today, which is why I started this thread.  LOL

I don't think Pokemon cards count though.  They may not be the most 'in fad' thing right now, but they're still being actively made and collected.

When I was a kid, I played with the Atari, and the Super Nintendo. I also remember getting a Game Boy Color for my birthday, which was considered wicked cool. That's because before the Game Boy Color, they had the Game Boy which was in black and white. I also played with GigaPets which was wicked fun. I remember when I went to school and I told my mom to watch over my GigaPet dog, he died and I came home crying because my mom "Killed" him. It was a very sad day indeed.

I'll say, When I was your age, we'd go find sticks in the woods and pretend they were swords or guns, and then later tie strings on the end and try to catch fish in the creek. Obviously I had snes and genesis and all that fun stuff when I was a kid, but my favorite toys usually weren't supposed to be toys at all. Just a bunch of kids with crazy imaginations.

I remember pogs lol... they were all the rage back in the day .. I think I used to have a lot of them lying around but I sold them to a friend... 

When I was child me and my friends used to play one of three games.. 

1. Football aka Soccer... We love the sport in England and we used to play it as much as possible... 

2. Poddy 123.... Essentially like Hide and Seek apart from it's on a single street and the goal of the person who is it is to catch someone before they reach the lamppost that they were counting at.

3. Curby A simple game were you would stand on one side of the road and tried to throw a ball so that it hit the curb and bounced back towards you... If the player on the other side caught the ball without stepping on the road it didn't count... If you managed to get a "double curby" you'd win automatically... Basically making the ball hit the curb and then bouncing back and hitting your curb.. Without touching the road once

  I'll tell my kids that I've been reading books, and I fully expect them to burst out laughing.



I know, books definitely are still around, but e-books are getting more popular with an amazing speed, and with the huge success of tablets and smartphones, normal books probably are not going to survive the next 10 years. Don't get me wrong, electronic text is a huge improvement over printed one, but the feeling when you buy a new novel and open the book for the first time is not something that can be replicated with e-books, and you also can't replicate that feeling of amazement when looking at a shelf filled with good books.



I don't know why, but I get the feeling that in some decades, there'll be a new kind of nerd. Someone reading non-electronic books. 
 

I'll tell them that I didn't even use the internet till I was at the end of middle school.

I'm behind enough with the current generation. The next one will completely lose me.

For the record.... I remember pogs as well.

I'm part of the "i-Generation" as some people would say.

I'm not really in overall approval, because of all of those who worship Apple and Swag, but I'm glad to say that not everybody's like me.

I had GameCube and Tamagotchi.

I would say to my kids (if I ever have any) when I was your age I went on vizz everyday the best website in history

I would say," back when i was your age there was a site named vizzed. A magicul land of Games free to play on your computer for free all thanks to davideo7." 

i played with a space hopper (those fat bouncy ball thingys that you dit on) i still do play on it and i play on other toys like POKEMON TOYS GO PIKACHU thats actually what i used to do with the toy pokeballs.

I would say SAVE YOUSELF and go on vizzed

The toy that I remember playing with and would probably tell my kids (if I have any in the future) is that I used to play with Sega Genesis as kid. Probably what was the best game back in that day and age.

Anyway, some of the more memorable toys from my childhood are the same as the ones Resuri posted about. I especially loved the Digimon toy. We used to have a swing set, and my siblings and I would swing as we shook the things and waited for something to happen.

Another thing I remember is these chocolate eggs that my German neighbors would give us on occasion that were hollow and had little toys inside them. I think they were Kinder Eggs, but I'm not entirely sure. Either way, the cheap little toys that came inside them were very fun to collect.

Yes, I had X-Men Pogs that came with ....I think it was capri-sun drinks or something.


Later I decided to mess around with "3.D" Bock puzzles like "The Da Vinci Star" as seen in the movie "Hudson Hawk". The Cube with all the random pieces that only fit one way. Those were fun too.
I don't see "Pocket Power" toys around anymore.

Does anyone here remember Lincoln Logs? I loved them. Real ones, not the new plastic ugly things. I had actual wooden Lincoln Logs that we used to build forts with to host our GI Joe/Barbie/My Little Pony/Star Wars/He Man battles in. 

I miss them so bad.
