Just wondering how I can save Pokémon FireRed? I know that F2 is the usual method but on my keyboard its a shortcut for dimming the screen and therefore I don't know whether its working. Any other ways of saving/ways of disabling the shortcut? (The answer is probably quite simple but I'm VERY tired/don't know if its the same as playing handheld).

matthew243 : If your keyboard has an Fn key, hold that down while pressing F2 to save.

This is the most relevant topic I thought I should pose my question:

What is/was the length of time one could retrive their server-side saves after saving was done locally?

All my old saves exist in the Save File Manager, but are less than 1kb and do not load when put in the proper folder...

I'm left to assume these saves are lost in space

"Final Fantasy I & II - Dawn of Souls (Europe) (En,Fr,De,Es,It).sav" along with each of the appropriate daily backups that were made at that time. All my file types were either .sav or .sgm When I download them however, they are all them same size of 650ish bytes and do not load when put in the correct folder.

If my game is only saved locally will clearing my cache and cookies erase my game?
I've been playing a GBA game, and saving within the game itself, then using the save state feature (the f2 key). I understand that when saving GBA games you're supposed to save within the game itself, but I'm unsure if I'm supposed to be doing that in addition to saving the state, or is saving within the game sufficient without having to save the state by hitting f2 as well?

Sorry to be a pest, but Pokémon red rescue team never lets me do any type of saving, even after using your methods. I'd appreciate some help if I could get it.

Is something wrong with saving on the genesis? Because I've been trying to play a season for Madden 95, and it saves the game, but not the scores. I tried NFL 95 and Madden 96 on the genesis with the same problem. I switched over to SNES to try it there, and it saves the scores perfectly fine. Just wondering what could be causing this?

Mac users will not be able to save the Zelda game if they use the VNES Java Emulator.  There are a couple of problems but the most insurmountable of them is the incompatibility of the Java applet that generates the save code with the mac operating system. If someone can figure out a way around this then I found a couple other Mac specific notes that might help others:1.  Anyone using a Mac laptop after 2008 will need a USB keyboard with a number pad in order to save without dying.  The number pad is required for the use of Controller2, which is required for the cheat code that allows you to save without dying.  Mac laptops built after 2008 no longer have embedded number pads in their keyboards.         2.  If the cheat code doesn't show up when you hit F10, try checking your system preferences setting for expose shortcuts.  Expose and Spaces options can be set to show the application windows, all windows or the desktop using keys such as F10.  If you use F10 for one of these system preferences, it will take priority over the in-game function that lets you call up the cheat code to access your saved game.  You will need to remove the system preferences shortcut from F10 before you will be able to retrieve your save code.                              Thank you for the save instructions and the YouTube video!  As it turns out I had a few unique quirks to my setup, so I thought I'd post them here in case they help someone else.quarks

I'm only going to answer posts that I can at this moment since this thread rarely gets answers, if I skip anyone then hopefully the moderators of this forum can answer.

Misslane : Your saves won't be erased by clearing your cache or cookies, providing that they are RGR Plugin saves and not saves for the Java emulators.

Quarks : vNES codes no longer work. Here's why: Oracle (the developer of Java) changed some aspects of newer versions of the Java VM, which has temporarily broken save code support on vNES.

The developers of vNES are currently investigating a fix, but it will take time to implement without users losing their current codes.

SuperGameBoy1 : Yes you can, you can find info for that in this thread:
https://www.vizzed.com/boards/thread.php?id=37198
You can either transfer via flash drive or a file hosting site.

journeysl8 : Refer to post above.

I'm not sure if this has been answered before as I couldn't find a search topic option, so my apologies in advance if it is.

When I try to load a save state with F4, Paper mario (N64) just freezes. And while I did save in-game, it refuses to show my game save. It shows up sometimes, but others it's as if I've never played the game. Any ideas?
