I personally prefer Japanese with subtitles, it's cool to hear the original voice actors, and I dunno, I don't really mind the reading either.

TrollStoneProduction : I agree with you. Plus, most of the English dub anime come from Funimation and they tend to use the same voice actors for every anime and that makes the anime less enjoyable for me. :

I usually prefer dubs. Its a bit better, but when I recondnize that there is more in the anime/no dubs made yet/the dubs suck, then I'll watch the subs. I seem to enjoy the subs quite a bit. I think the anime's original language fits the anime the best.

I enjoy both the English and Japanese voicing for the most part... I like the Japanese voicing to experience it how it was originally intended, but I don't care for reading subtitles... if I ever learned Japanese, this would solve that problem. Until then, I have dubs which allow me to experience the show in a language I actually understand. I also have become familiar with most of the better VAs in the business from as much anime that I've watched and JRPGs that I've played. As a result, it's kinda neat to keep hearing the people I recognize.

I know people complain about "the same old voices in everything" (as if Japan never reuses seiyuu) but I actually LIKE this. I'm actually extremely disappointed when I watch anime and DON'T recognize any of the voices. This happens with a lot of the newer stuff out of L.A. (like Squid Girl) or stuff dubbed by Ocean. I don't really recognize these voices so it's a bit harder for me to enjoy. Especially when they don't capture the characters very well... as long as they do a good job, I'm not complaining, though.

I always go to Durarara as my example for an excellent dub because it's to-date the best I've ever heard. It's probably the pinnacle of American voice acting in anime. If more anime was handled like that, I don't think very many reasonable people would ever complain about the quality of dubs.

I also think they FUNimation needs to open a satellite office branch in California to capture more of the talent in L.A. to mix with their Texas people to create more variety in their voices as well as a wider range of character types that they can cover.

I'm a dubbed man myself
I will occasionally watch something with English subs but I try to watch dubbed anime.
Purely because if I get distracted from watching at least I can still hear and understand what is going on lol
And not all but some anime subtitles go off screen really quick so unless you can speed read you miss them.

I like my anime in sub-titles because it fells like your actually part of the show when your viewing it.

I prefer English. I don't like having to read sub titles, because you end up missing much of the action, as you have to just glance up at the animation, then look back down to read. That, and I just don't like hearing it in a language I don't understand.

For me it all depends on the anime and where, when, and who I'm watching it with. Dragon Ball Z I hate the Japanese voices all them having really annoying high pitches. While I love the Japanese voices for Naruto. If I have to watch an anime with a lot of other people I like being able to understand what they are saying because I tend to get distracted easily. Or if I can't find my glasses I try no to strain my eyes anymore then they already are. But If I'm by myself or have one close friend that loves the shows as much as me I prefer the subtitles.

The only one I like with Japanese audio with English subs is Naruto Shippuden. I prefer Naruto's English dub before Shippuden. But I can't stand Naruto Shippudens English dub I have to have Japanese audio with English sub or its just horrible lol. But for every other anime I've ever watched I prefer to be in English audio.

I enjoy dubbs more then subs because sometimes when I'm reading what they are saying off the screen I sometimes miss it for I'm a pretty slow reader.Another reason is sometimes when I look away probably when I scratch my head I miss out on what is going on.

English Language please.
It is way funnier.
I will grace the original with english subtitles sometimes to check the differences.
But that is a rare occasion.
The occasion?
More often than not it is for the music if I find it has been altered in the credits or bad dub editing.
I once had a "Perfect collection" set of the Maccross Saga (Robotech for all you philistines) That included both the English dub and the Original Language with English Sub. Not just one episode or two. The whole show. Every season. On V.H.S. Tapes.
The differences?
Not many.
After that I just watch the English Dub and forget about it. (Even now with the D.V.D. options.)
If there is a fun revelation?
I am certain a special features section will be devoted to it.. (Just seems like a waste of time to me. Unless some of you want to learn another language.)

Good Luck To All.
I'm done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.

I usually watch subs ONLY because dubs aren't the greatest.  There are some exceptions of course like Cowboy Bebop.  I loved every bit of it in english and even bought the boxset.  I prefer dubs because you're able to watch the animation more rather than reading and looking at the screen below.

I personally like Japanese with subtitles because sometimes I can learn new words in Japanese and listen to their funny voices when their surprised at something. I do also like English because its cool and you don't have to read through out the video.

Subtitles. Most of the time, German subs; if not available, English subs are okay as well. ^^

It's quite different how an anime can make an impression on you dependent on the language. It takes some time to get used on animes with the original Japanese dub. But once you have watched a few of them, you will (if you listened to the voices well enough) understand what the characters want to say and their emotions will be shown way better than in most dubs of other languages.
I even learned many words just of watching subbed anime that way.

There are some animes that I prefer dubbed in German however. Dragonball Z for example. It's a bit weird in Japanese, because of all the male characters of Goku's family who are all spoken by the female seiyuu (Jap. voice actor) Masako Nozawa; and I grew up with this anime dubbed in German, when I was little.

For English dubs, well.. I don't know many English dubs of anime. But I can say, 4Kids is the most terrible. Just how they ruined the English One Piece with censoring and bad voices, lol. But Funimation made it okay again, and they have some really good dubs, I guess.

That's another good point of animes with subtitles: No censorship.

I'm kinda mixed on this subject, as it kinda depends.

I'm pretty partial to dub, like for Clannad or Angel Beats!, they come to mind first. But if it's an anime that's strictly subbed, I'll tend to watch those. They tend to be well worth it. HOWEVER, for some, I do also like the subbed version, such as for Clannad. Double-edged sword, really.

I like subs more, I can't always stand loud annoying voice actors/actresses during an anime dub.  I also like that sub is the complete original translation.  Dub sometimes can have a bit of a modified translation.  Sometimes I feel like I learn Japanese while listening to sub also, not like sentence structure, but just little words, like how hikari means light and little things like that.  If the anime is a comedy, I like dub more because it's easier to understand.  (Especially with Hetalia!) So yeah...  Haha

Vizzed.com is very expensive to keep alive! The Ads pay for the servers.

Vizzed has 3 TB worth of games and 1 TB worth of music.  This site is free to use but the ads barely pay for the monthly server fees.  If too many more people use ad block, the site cannot survive.

We prioritize the community over the site profits.  This is why we avoid using annoying (but high paying) ads like most other sites which include popups, obnoxious sounds and animations, malware, and other forms of intrusiveness.  We'll do our part to never resort to these types of ads, please do your part by helping support this site by adding Vizzed.com to your ad blocking whitelist.
