PokemonGuy : Isn't Naruto still on? Again I don't know as my friend likes those kinds of shows, I really don't. I'll have to ask him (even thou I can careless).

earthwarrior : They canceled Ed Edd and Eddy?! Man all the shows I grew up with have gone off the air. I wouldn't be surprised if Rugrats, Cow and Chicken, and Hey Arnold is canceled as well.

Are you joking, Oldschool? Rugrats, Cow and Chicken, and Hey Arnold have been cancelled for ages. I hope you're being sarcastic, haha.

Also Naruto is still going to the extent of my knowledge, I just don't know anything about it being aired in America because I don't have cable. You'd probably have to watch it on Youtube (horror of unspeakable horrors) or download it or something.

KG : I was being partially sarcastic. I think I'm just a little shocked that all the cartoons I grew up watching as a kid were canceled and off the air. While I do expect some of those shows to be canceled, I expected some to last long like Blues Clues or Sesame Street. Makes me feel kind of sad and depressed at who old I am (never thought I would say that till I was at least 50 lol).

It's a lot easier and less costly to create live action kids shows than animation. A live action show like Blue's Clues can be produced by a group of 15 or fewer people where an animated series may have 40 people working on so many additional aspects.

Ed, Edd, and Eddy lasted 6 seasons and 131 episode over 10 years which was and still is Nickelodeon's longest running original series.

American animated series more than cartoons produced in Japan have to depend a lot on merchandising such as a toy line, not just popularity. The series Sym-Bionic Titan, while popular with fans, lasted only 20 episodes because the toy line didn't sell.

There are quite a few!

Flapjack
Chowder (but I understand this one because the kid who played Chowder went through puberty)
Rocket Power
The Legend of Zelda
Super Mario Show
Invader Zim
Digimon
Sonic Underground
Dexter's Laboratory
Mighty Morphing Power Rangers

That is all of the ones I can think of right now, but there are so many more. I barely watch tv anymore because I can't watch a lot of these shows.

CobraGuy :

Ed, Edd, n Eddy was not a Nickelodeon show, but a Cartoon Network show, and even if it was a Nickelodeon show, would not be the longest running animated show; that goes to Spongebob Squarepants with 204ish episodes starting in 1999 to now. (Or Rugrats if you combine their spin off shows; 172 episodes of the original Rugrats [over the course of 13 years for 1991-2004], 55 episodes of All Grown Up [5 years, but did run with Rugrats' original show; 2003-2008], and perhaps a little more from Angelica's spin off that got cancelled [4 episodes only in 2008]).

Did you mean Ed, Edd, n Eddy was the longest running show for Cartoon Network? In terms of years, that would be true, though Billy and Mandy beat it in number of episodes.

My favorite show was (and still is) The Marvelous Misadventures of Flapjack. I was so pissed that they cancelled it along with Chowder. Because to be honest, Cartoon Network is losing a lot of great shows. But the ones who saved Cartoon Network in the 2010's are Regular Show and Adventure Time. But I heard they are rebooting the Powerpuff Girls, I can't wait to see it. But I'll consider Pokémon cancelled, because they ruined the show!

I was upset when they cancelled Heroes!! I loved that show!
and also Star Trek (even though I wasn't alive for it's cancellation XD). What part of "five-year mission" did NBC not understand?! lol

And some of these cartoons some people mentioned- some where cancelled but some also did have a proper ending like Chowder (in Chowder Grows Up) and EEnE (The Big Picture Show) so I wasn't
too upset (Although, I was upset that they lied when they told us that the "What's-Under-Edd's-Hat" mystery would be solved in that movie). I miss Flapjack, too.

I HATE, HATE,
HAAATE that they cancelled Hey Arnold!. Nickelodeon got greedy and decided that the movie would go in theaters (even though that movie was made to be just a TV movie) and when it didn't make enough money- they cancelled production of the Jungle Movie (that was actually supposed to be the one released in theaters) which would've told us about Arnold's parents and Arnold would have actually gone out with Helga (he likes like her *tee hee*). I'll never forgive Nick for that >

"Covington Cross"
"V.R.5."
And ... "Robotech".

I'd add more but these are shows that were cancelled for unknown reasons. Some are Great examples of shows.
I like the "Green Hornet" entry the most. We don't even get reruns of that thing. Yet we get to have every single episode of "Adam West's Bat-Man".
I always found that kind of odd.

I also liked "Americas Most Wanted" and "Unsolved Mysteries".
My favourite case was "D.B. Cooper."

That's it for me.
I'm Done. Stick a fork in me.
Peace.

I must say, I am utterly shocked that no one mentioned Firefly! That show was so brilliant...and it only lasted one season before Fox screwed it over. They didn't even air the last three episodes, from what I understand. Unfortunately, though, I only got into it a while after its cancellation, when my parents dragged me to see the movie (which was good, but they killed off my favorite character, so that was pretty sucky).

Also, while it did eventually get saved by Comedy Central (and thus probably doesn't count), I will NEVER forgive Fox for canceling Futurama.

I miss the Sgt. Frog english dub. I don't know if they completely cancelled it, but they gave it the boot for now. Otherwise, I am a little upset about Chowder and Flapjack being booted for now real reason, I loved those shows! I am not to upset about Childhood stuff like Ed, Edd, N' Eddy to much because I do know every good show or thing in has to end sometime... ;(

Pretty bummed out about how 'Star Wars: The Clone Wars' series is being handled. Not impressed that they're going to compress and "tie up" all of the "loose ends" to the story line into just a handful of episodes.

I wish they hadn't canceled The Misadventures of Flapjack. It was honestly one of the weirdest yet best things that CN had put out in a while, and they ended up canceling it after only 2 seasons. What a shame.
