So I was driving back home after I got out of college and as I was driving I saw a dead wolf in what appeared to be that he had got ran over by a car. I can honestly say that this was the first time I actually felt bad seeing a dead animal on the road (I usually remain indifferent to the usual squirels, chipmonks, possiums, and sometimes skunks.) Anyone else feel bad when they see a dead animal on the side of the road?

Oh my goodness, that poor little baby. I feel sad and upset whenever I see any kind of animal dead on the side of the road. What really gets me angry is that you know they purposely went to that part of the road just to run over the animal. How would they like it if someone came along and hit them and drove off? It's an outrage in my opinion. I remember when I was a kid, my family and I witnessed someone hit a dog. my Dad pulled over and took the dog to the nearest vet's office. Which I'm surprised he did that cause he usually never cared about anyone or anything other than himself.

mr.pace: I can understand where you are coming from. Maybe you had to be there to understand what I saw and how I guess my mind opened up a bit about how much a life or death cituation it is for an animal to walk across the street.

SunflowerGaming : i doubt thats the case, people dont tend to deliberately run over animals, for one they wouldnt want to damage there car.
Animals panic when they see big fast things. They often run in front of the cars. Just an hour ago a fox ran in front of my car(without incident i add).
Why 'that kind of animal'? What makes a wolf better than others.
If i see a dead animal i feel a pang of pity for them whatever it is.

When larger animals like deer, foxes, raccoons, wolfs, mooses, even small bears as being more "wildlife" then "backyard pests". Plus we are taught how these animals are wildlife and don't tend to visit people unless we try to find them or they are looking for food. So when we see an animal like that get runned over we tend to be more sympathetic (this is all my opinion by the way).

Yeah I agree though, it doesn't matter what kind of animal it is, it cruel to hit any kind of living creature. Now I hope that some of the people that do it on accident feel bad or try to help the animal if it's possible but I think that's very rare.

thenumberone : Yeah, who cares if your car is dented? I mean you can always get it fixed. It's not like it's ruined for life. If you kill any living thing, you can't bring it back. It's not like you can just put a new part on it and it's all better. I am so glad there are other people like me who feel sympathy for other living creatures.

I usually don't get bothered by it too much.  Like someone said above, I kind of think of it as a normal, natural part of life.  The only time I might feel a little sad is if it's a domesticated animal, and only because I don't feel it' so natural for a pet.  I feel sorry for the animal and the owner, then.

I just imagine what it must be like to see a car coming straight at you and then getting hit by it. And sometimes they probably don't die right away. So it just makes me sad.

I cry at the idea of cats being run over by cars. Not many other animals get me... but cats are so cute and lovable and adorable... it's truly a tragedy. The wolf thing sucks too but I've never lived anywhere that would have wild canines in the area to get hit by cars, so it's not something I have any experience with. The only things that can really get hit around here are domestic animals or stuff like squirrels, pigeons, and possums...
