I don't really remember if any of my teachers did anything stupid but I do remember my 4th grade teacher going up the stairs and tripping over the 3rd step. It was pretty funny to see since he was a very serious man.

Just today, my teacher told everyone to look at the chalkboard, because he was getting ready to explain something. So he turned his back and one student started to work again, so the teacher threw a piece of chalk at the student! Some thing for a teacher to do, don't you think?

LOL I remember reading that comic. They have some pretty funny sketches.

Speaking for myself, I've done TONS of dumb things.  Sometimes, I'd draw sketches of graphs and students would have their minds in the gutter and then I'd forget and draw the same graph for the next class.  (And you have to realize, my students (due to their ethnic and family background), will turn ANYTHING into an inappropriate subject.

My computer teacher last year loved to repeat herself. Over and over and over. She reminded me of a broken record.

Also, my 6th grade science teacher accidentally broke one of the tables. I was one of the two kids who weren't there to see it...

Galacta : What's wrong with repetition?  I repeat myself all the time.  In fact, when I'm teaching, I'll repeat a concept three or four times because I know my students aren't ALWAYS listening.  If I repeat it a few times, the students that were listening can get the idea enforced into their minds, and if they WEREN'T listening, they have a better chance of having heard the concept at least once.

Of course, I don't use the exact same wording though.

Singelli : That's the thing, she does it over and over and over. Same wording. Exactly like a broken record. I'm also pretty sure it isn't intentional.

Isn't?  Like she can't help it or she isn't thinking about it?  How very odd!  If she was using the exact same wording, I could imagine that would get very annoying, yes.  LOL

Well my engineering teacher doesn't know what he's teaching...  The girl who sits next to me had to correct him when we we're doing standard deviation...  He isn't that good of a teacher, and somehow has a masters...  Also, once I had a teacher who  always spoke with a monotone voice.  It's hard to pay attention...

This isn't really a stupid thing my teacher did but in grade 5  one of my teachers spilled here coffee when she was drawing a graph on a whiteboard thing. So a student in my class goes to move her chair to help clean underneath the chair and she didn't know so so kinda just fell into half a puddle of coffee. Surprisingly she didn't give the kid detention because  she was a very strict teacher.

shawnfawn :  Oo  Oh dear...I can't believe an -engineering- teacher doesn't know what they're doing!  That's just horrible!  I'd understand a bit if a coach was teaching history or something but....engineering??!  Oh dear!

And I agree....teaching in a monotone voice IS stupid.

We've all had that teacher who is either so inattentive and self-absorbed or so head-over-heels in love with the sound of their own voice that when you put your hand up they inevitably ignore you insistently while they blather. When they finally do call on you thirty-five minutes later, when your arm muscles are so sore that you can’t move them anymore and fear you may have risked permanent damage to your triceps, and you're beginning to realize that what the teacher is doing to you technically falls under the legal definition of "waterboarding", the topic of discussion has changed so much that you may as well not bother since your question would now be a comically startling non-sequitur. Of course it does no good to realize this and put your hand down because when you do, then and only then will they notice and call on you.

I have to say that the dumbest thing one of my teachers have done is... My math teacher showing us a story problem and she forgot the R in "shirts" so it said on the s-word on the board. She looked pretty embarrassed
