While I realize there are two threads currently for RGR Netplay, that is not exactly what this is about. Hence my creating another thread. I am looking for people who emulate regularly, and know their way around one, who I can play with semi-regularly and who enjoy the same types of games I do. I don't mind using the Vizzed Netplay feature (and I support it!) but frankly there are a lot of things it cannot play well or at all yet (understandably). Some of these things are my favorite games.

For instance, Pokemon (gameboy advanced). You cannot netplay that here. But the most up to date VisualBoy Advance and No$GBA allow you to do so. Another is: Smash Bros.(N64). That works fine on normal play for me here, but Netplay crashes every single time. Thus, the necessity for off-site netplay.

Here are a list of genres and series that I regularly play to give you some ideas (this is not a comprehensive list):

* Mario

* Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles

* RPGs (Seiken Densetsu Co-Op)

*Shooters (Golden Eye, Contra, Turok)

* Racing (Diddy Kong Racing, Mario Kart)

* Pokemon (there is actually a plugin + emulator off-site that allows you to use a visualboy advance save to upload your Pokemon to Pokemon Stadium 1 and 2).

* Twitch/Puzzle Games (Snake, Rattle N' Roll and Tetris)

...

and more.

In general, if you want off-site netplay (or on, if it will work) you can PM me. To use off-site emulators though, you need to be at least moderately technically literate.  People with prior experience using emulators will be given preference.

I'm into Netplay big time. If you're looking to play a Netplay game over Hamachi or anything else, send me a message and we can sort something out.

Both emulators are updated often are they not?

Regardless... I would think the latest no$gba emulator would allow for netplay... best emulator around for gba after all

Davideo7 : Officially, VBA's not supposed to. The official creator said he refuses to try because he didn't think there was any way for it to work flawlessly.

Unofficially, netplay has been "supported" for at least 6 years now.

I haven't really looked to see if the official creator changed his mind on his stance in a while, though. And I don't really mess with No$GBA, so who knows what that does? I do know it supposedly supports DS netplay (though when I tried that, it did NOT work), so GBA netplay should be a very feasible thing for it to accomplish.

On topic... Seiken Densetsu 3 is an awesome RPG to co-op... better yet if you can get the 3-player hack and play it 3 player (not that I know of any emulators that support 3-player netplay properly. The only emulator that I know if that was supposed to did a horrible job at keeping the players synchronized... even for 2-player netplay).

As of right now, there are no open source emulators that emulate GB/GBC/VBA with a high compatibility rate that also support netplay AND are open source besides Visual Boy Link which is an unofficial version of Visual Boy Advanced. No$gba is definitely not open source.

Edit: KiGB is an emulator to watch though, it is both high compatibility and supports link cable emulation fully over TCP/IP. Its developer has plans to release the source code sometime in the future.

Thanks for the info. I guess that means that netplay could be added for gameboy systems within the next few years on vizzed.
