Paper Mario is considered one of my favorite games. Conker's Bad Fur Day is consider my All-time favorite game in existance. Though the game can get pretty difficult, in a messed up sort of way, the difficulty is what makes it a classic. Rare was responsible for bring this game after kiddie classics like Banjo Kazooie were released. Conker pretty much surpassed Banjo Kazooie and had adult humor/violence and themes.
If I could I would rate it higher but 10 is still good. There are some scenes in this game that are shocking for an N64 game to have. Sex, drugs and a certain kind of humor that you are forced to watch for 5 seconds. Lets just say it involves prune juice and leave it at that.
Though story mode is short (if you know what you are doing) there are still features to keep you entertained for hours. Multiplayer is surprisingly one player friendly and extremely enjoyable. Despite being a comedy, the ending is shocking but I heard a rumor that the ending that was considered was worse then what happend. Alot of movie references will remind some of you of classic movies.
I like everything so the only real complaint I have about this game is the story's short time frame. Conker was in other games before he had his bad fur day, including Conker's Pocket Tales for the GBC and a playable character in Diddy Kong Racing. Pocket is a 100% toned down version and meant for younger audiences. I am not the biggest fan of racing games, but I have played Diddy Kong Racing just not that far into it.
It could be me, but after awhile of playing this game, I forget I am playing an N64 game. They made a remake/port for the Xbox, and while some people like it, I have a lot of gripes about it. Better graphics doesn't always mean a better game. In this one, only major language and one useage of the S word are bleeped. In remake only mild language is left in. There is a boss fight in this game that is what many people consider the greatest part of this game.
They censor that song in the remake. I realize that you can still be funny without cursing but why censer everything? I just couldn't get involved. I don't have an Xbox or any new system. My Wii broke but that was the only system I had that was new. I saw a longplay of Live and Reloaded. I guess I am a sucker for the original.
In short, this game is the greatest I played, and on the list of games I could play forever. Definitly buy or download just play this gem of a game. It does contain Adult humor and violence so be mature or if not that, then handle the mature content in some way without complaint.
