well, it's hard to get talked about too much when you've detroit in your division.... Chicago has had a good team but they're young and sometimes inconsistent.... they are a good team though. They beat Calgary and they're up 3-2 on Vancouver (and 2-1 in the current game).... yeah, they are good, and the playoffs seem to have made them better. I don't think they can beat detroit though. Although I'm not sure if any team can beat detroit over a 7 game series.... they're just too good right now.

I had figured that they had a line-up change or something since I hadn't heard of them being that great either... then again, I live in California so I am lucky to hear about hockey at all.
The NHL is plotting against me, I haven't been able to catch a single Pens game this series because they seem to all be scheduled when I am in class or at work.

I think that was an overwhelming victory for the good guys  .
Unfortunately I missed the game. I had my man date tonight to see Star Trek (see Star Trek thread for further comments) However, I see that Crosby scored 2 goals in that game and took goal and point lead, which Ovechkin can't retake  .
So, Chicago in the West and Pittsburgh in the East. Thankfully I have nothing going on tomorrow so I get to watch both game 7's tomorrow night!!!!! I am very excited. These next 2 games are going to be epic! |

heh. I think people expected too much out of him. Same with Hiller. They're only able to play at this level because they haven't played all year. Eventually the schedule is going to wear on them too.
And I kind of hope that phrase sticks around so I can use it later on.... "haha your goalie pulled a luongo!" |

Whoo hoo! I did a little dance in class when I found out the score. Yay, Penguins!
Ignorance time: Luongo? But yeah, even if the goalie did knock one in I think that they had the came sinched. I get to see the Ducks/Red Wings game tomorrow night since I will be at my boyfriend's work. I hope Chicago takes down whichever one wins. If I can catch the Boston/Carolina game as well that would be nice, but I don't know if they are going to show it here. Would be nice to see the competition. |

I'm not 100% sure.... but I think it has something to do with Luogo letting in 7 goals in their last game. That's just my guess.
I'm watching the Red Wings game and it just became 3-1 for Detroit.... boo on them. I want to see a new champ this year! |

Red Wings move on after a 4-3 victory over the Ducks. Yay, so happy the Ducks went down!
Boston and Carolina are going into OT at 2-2 as of a minute ago, at least that is what NHL.com tells me. |

Yeah, I'm not sad the ducks lost but I don't want the Red Wings to repeat. Although it would be pretty epic to see Detroit Pittsburgh again but this time Pittsburgh wins. That would be awesome.
And yeah, going into OT. I hope it doesn't end quickly. The longer the OT the more exciting it becomes! |

wow.... Carolia just finished off Boston. That was huge! Both #1 seeds are out of the playoffs now.
Now we know who are in the semi-finals! Detroit vs Chicago and Pittsburgh vs Carolina. Predictions will come shortly... kind of want to watch some of the analysts say their piece before I decide for sure. |

I am saying Pittsburgh in 7, I don't think that it will be an easy victory considering how well Carolina is playing. I'm kinda hoping that Chicago takes out Detroit, but I figure either way that it's gonna go to 6 or 7 as well.

Chicago taking out Detroit... come on. The Red Wings shall repeat as champions. I think people are sick of them just because they are consistent, the same every year. We are usually a top 3 seed in the West, we have gotten younger, and our puck control style of play bugs the crap out of people. I see the Red Wings winning in 6, and, the Hurricanes winning in 7. Crosby and the Pens will give the Hurricanes a tough outing, but taking out the Bruins was no easy task. GO WINGS!

The Wings almost lost to the Ducks, c'mon.
So I guess they are expecting some good entertainment from the Penguins/Hurricanes game due to the Staal brothers going head to head against each other. Don't think it is as big as Crosby vs Ovechkin, but at least every series has been interesting so far. The Chicago/Detroit game is going to be interesting to watch as well as they keep talking about the Original Six rivalry. |

But the Ducks beat San Jose... so are we going to say that, because the Wings beat the Ducks, the Wings would have also beat the Sharks? Just cause the Wings almost lost really doesn't mean much when you think about it. The Wings are the Wings, its a new series, (not anymore) Wings up 1-0.

Ducks wouldn't have won if Thorton hadn't f***ing choked.
And if they take out Chicago, I still say that they will go down against the Penguins once they finish off the Hurricanes. That is my story and I am sticking to it. |

The Wings were good this year but not nearly as dominant as they were last year. I see Chicago giving them more trouble in the next few games. Chicago took on 2 seasoned playoff teams and beat them both fairly soundly. I also want a new team to win the cup. With the way the league is structured it is so difficult to win at all that I just don't want to see one team win more than once in a 10 year period or so.... I'd rather see teams that haven't won in a while get the glory.... the league needs the variety in winners I think. |

The Wings are a much better team, though, when you look at it. The Wings also had trouble with the Blue Jackets during the regular season, as they did with the Blackhawks, but the Wings style of play, and their experience led them to a sweep of Columbus. We will have to see what happens... |

they are the better team on paper.... but what matters is who is the better team over 7 games.... both Boston and San Jose lost and they dominated the regular season.... the playoffs change teams.... and Chicago has just gotten better as the playoffs have gone on. I think Detroit will probably win the series but I don't want them to.

oh yeah.... forgot to post about this one.... Pens take the first game. I got to watch most of it and it seemed like they controlled more of the style of play than the canes. Ruutu and Cole both might be injured for the next game.... and if not too injured to play it's possible they will just be playing injured which can't be a good sign for the Canes....
oh, and good game by Fleury.... he made some huge saves to keep the game in the Pens favor. |
