legacyme3 : The reason why the white cliffs of Dover are well white.. Is because they are generically believed to be ancient shelled creatures that lived millions of years ago... After many years the shells broke down into white sediment... or "chalk" if you want to keep it simple... and slowly the white cliffs where formed....

The reason why the white cliffs of Dover are white is because the sea erodes it slowly ... There is obviously places that are not white due to the fact the sea cannot reach it..

i hope that explains it well enough for you.

thenumberone : Although i don't know much about wars from centuries ago... I know that Scotland and England had a great rivalry and would often try to invade each other for more land...

Also there was a lot of wars caused for by Scotland wanting independence from England. Which as you can tell they kind of have but i believe are still a Vassal to England. Hence the United Kingdom.

I believe this is correct. Plus the fact that the Scottish don't really like anyone.

I believe this link is an insight into Scottish behaviour..

haha, i love that video.
Although scotland had independence for about 600 years.
Then the scottish king was given the english throne in 1606.
And then england and scotland stoped existing in 1707 when the united kingdom of great britain was created.
Although on vassal, i certainly think its an unfair UNION, hence i oppose it.
Genuine question, why do half of england call football soccer and turnips swedes.
Is that not american terminology?
Whats youre favourite city.

thenumberone : As far as I'm aware most of the people i talk to call football... football... you know the one where you kick a ball around a pitch with your feet....

Swedes are a variant on a turnip as they originate from Sweden.. durr... the are also more durable and can grow through winter whilst regular turnips can't... It's like how apples have different names and taste different but people them their given name etc... Granny smith or they just call it an apple

Soccer is American terminology but that's because they named a game football when it should clearly be called handegg...

My favourite city is Leicester... The city where I have pretty much lived my whole life in

Do all British people think Americans are obese?

What are the seasons there?

What is the currency?

I heard England is one of the most actively paranormal countries in the world and have many famous paranormal locations such as "50 Berkeley Square" in Mayfair Central London and "the tower of London." Have you ever been to these locations or any other famous paranormal location I didn't mention? If so, have you experienced anything paranormal? Kind of a weird question but I'm curious.

I hope this thread lots of success!

mlb789 : Well it was fun. If i can be honest it's not something that really means anything to me. I bet it meant a lot for professional athletes though. We didn't really screw up that much which i find rather miraculous and it didn't really rain either... Which is pretty amazing/annoying... Especially considering us Brits love to moan about the rain ... We did come third though regardless of what some people say

Yes i have actually visited Stonehenge...  In my opinion it is one of the main things that people associate with Britain. Apart from stereotypical things like top hats and tea .

Well i know that it was built in 3 stages and that the stones that comprise of Stonehenge are all at least 4000 years old. Also the rocks were moved by man power and are estimated to take about 600 men to move each one.

Stonehenge also has been rumoured to be many things over the years from a religious tribute. To something to do with astrology.. All i know is that it feels "special" and that spiritual people will probably enjoy it a lot more .  Plus i do believe it's one of the wonders of the world ( i may be wrong. )

YourMajestyKen : Nope not at all. I know that most Americans are not obese... Just think it as the same way most Americans think we drink tea all the time when we don't .. They are merely stereotypical views that other countries have about one another...

If you mean seasons as in weather. Then we kinda have them all. At the moment it's coming to Autumn so all the leaves and trees will start to start shedding their leaves..... As for general weather in England it's a pretty mild place. It never really gets that cold and snow is often celebrated as it doesn't snow at all really. It never really ever gets that warm here either. We don't get any natural disasters apart from really minor floods as well. Basically the weather in England can be described as boring

The currency is the Great British Pound. 1p,2p,5p,10p,20p,50p,£1,£2. Are all coins that are used in circulation you can also get £5 coins as well Then you can get £5,£10,£20,£50 notes... They all feature significant people on side of the note whilst having the queens face on the other.. As for coins it's the same a pattern on one side and the Queen's face on the other side...  As for comparison to the dollar I think at the moment in time £100 is the same to about $160.

I've never really been to any specific paranormal areas in England I'm afraid. Though i have been on things such as walking through supposedly haunted woods blindfolded... Which was pretty amazing... I kind of believe in the paranormal. But the films that are based on the paranormal are just "idiotic" and play on peoples fears and curiosity to get money...

As for experiencing  anything paranormal. I suppose sometimes i can feel like bad thing happens to loved ones and to people i care for.. I've not seen a ghost or anything amazing.. Just small subtle things really.

thenumberone : in my personal opinion IRN-BRU ..... apart from that i'd say it's our sarcastic sense of humor that most other nationalities don't understand... The amount of tourists that I've made friends with and tried to have a laugh with and they either get offended or stand their clueless is priceless.

when i said in england i meant as in actualy originating in england, lol.
But fair enough, its awesome.
Intresting fact its spelt like that because back in the day it was regarded as false advertising, theres no iron in it and its not brewd. So they changed the spelling to make it legal.
Oh, and uk currency is called the pound sterling.
scottish notes are different too, we dont have the queen on it, one side usualy has a great scottish architectural achievement on it, the other a famous scott.
I think irelands is different too, but still has the queen.
Ever been to york? I wana go there. It has to be the nicest looking city in england.

thenumberone : Fair enough. In that case then i love Walkers crisps ... .

Maybe we should change the title to ask Sonicmcmuffin and thenumberone about England and Scotland.. It has a nice ring to it ...

As for York i have been their but only for a dodge ball tournament so didn't really have time to take in the scenery.. Same with most places I've visited.. Even had to go Scotland twice

How populated is London? And do you know about the city in England that has people who look like Harry Potter? In the sense that they dress in robes.

megmanmaniac : London is very populated being the capital of England it's expected. It's really busy and it's always full of traffic... It's great at night though (if you visit the right area's) and is also good if you want to do a lot of shopping.

As for people that wear robes... I'm not really sure... I know that some posher schools make students wear robes... But it's not really something i can say for sure as no schools do anything like that near me.

thenumberone : i was being serious but meh . McCoy's are good.... Depends what you value more though.... 12 bigger portions or 18 smaller portions in more varied flavours .

Big Ben was the first thing that came into mind... As for Leicester it'd probably be the town hall or something.... They are a few grade listed buildings.. But I'll be honest and say that architecture isn't really my thing...
