Overall - So, I just recently played through Emerald again! I've not completely gotten everything but I'm pretty close I suppose. Overall I've really enjoyed the game. Believe or not Emerald is one of the least liked Pokemon's! Pokemon had falling out right before third Gen and well, bad initial reviews. But back to... me? I really wasn't able to stop playing this for the past couple days, not to mention it's one of the few games I'll actually listen to the soundtrack, if I've already played through. I also had a rag-tag team of random or just not good Pokemon and It was fairly difficult for me! xD
Graphics - Not much different from it's brother and sister, Ruby and Sapphire, although it was polished up a little bit and everything seemed to be running smoothly. I really can't say they're the most stellar graphics in the world, but for a gameboy game it's really nice looking! As well as the animations, nice job in all!
Sound - I have always enjoyed the Pokemon soundtracks, and this is no different. Usually if I play through a game more than once I turn the sound off and blast my own music. But this time I didn't; I sat down and listened to the game, not my music! As always Nintendo knows how to choose music and they did a phenomenal job once more! While listening to the music it draws you in to give you a better experience!
Addictiveness - Oh man, I almost didn't sleep! I love RPG's personally and Pokemon is one of my favorites<3 There really isn't much I can say!
Story - Emerald has a slightly different story than Ruby and Sapphire, instead of going after magma or aqua, you're going after both! Then you become acquainted with the third legendary (No spoilers, though that may already be too late). Also after the main story and you beat the Pokemon league you have another place to visit, which makes Emerald slightly harder than it's counterparts!
Depth - Emerald has quite a bit to offer! With a modified story and harder trainers, it's easy to get sucked into the gane! I also must say that it may take you a bit longer to finish the part of the game, which I am at, and it's obnoxiously hard! (atleast with my team as stated before) As with the other games it brings in some Pokemon from the other region for you to catch and train, so that's a nice little addition!
Difficulty - Even if you have the right team, you may still find a challenge within Emerald! The gym leaders have additional pokemon now that aren't pushovers! Then of course you have the rematches (that take forever and a day to happen) which can be challenging as well. Then the final stretch of the game is excessively difficult, so for once, we have a challenging Pokemon game!
To wrap this up, Emerald has just about everything that was missing from a traditional Pokemon game, I would really recommend this to any Pokemon game! I really hope this got you to play this game and if not well.. Sorry!
