I find it very intriguing. But like the scientists said, it probably won't be too big a deal in the scheme of things.

That probably won't happen, David, because we're pulled closer to the sun via gravity.

I dont know if Earth would be able to crash into the moon since it is stuck in Earths gravitational force.

Our days are a milisecond shorter...I wonder how long it'll take for that to make a difference in our time patterns...

Richard Gross, a geophysicist with NASA's Jet Propulsion Laboratory in California, theorized that a shift of mass toward the Earth's center during the quake Sunday caused the planet to spin 3 microseconds, or millionths of a second, faster and to tilt about an inch on its axis.

The earth now spins 3 microseconds faster than it previously did...

Ok I just calculated this research...

There are roughly 31536000 seconds in a year...
It takes a million microseconds to equall a second
In a year, our clocks will be off by 31 seconds (roughly)
in 2 years they'll be off by a minute
Within our life time, they'll eventually be off by a half hour (assuming we have 60 years left to live)

So I guess that isn't a big deal at all

But it is! O.o That'll be odd. But of course, our bodies will be used to this by the time it makes to much of a difference... I wonder if another earthquake could set it back on track? XD

David your calculations are way off. If it was fast forwarded by 3 micro seconds, and if there is 365 days in a year that means that in a year we will be off by 1095 microseconds. So in 913 years(approx.) we will be off by 1 second. Right?

I'm sorry but 3 microseconds is not a measure of speed...So how can something spin 3 microseconds faster? It really does not make any sense and I think the person who wrote it left something out by mistake. From the information we don't know if it means 3 microseconds per day or 3 microseconds per year...

lol, I feel like laughing a lot from that just because when I'm tired I feel like laughing at everything. But exhaustion + track practice make it so I hardly want to open my mouth.
