When it comes to Ash's age, I disregard what the show actually says about him being ten, and instead think of him as a 12-14 year old. I know that is kind of silly; I may as well also think Pikachu is actually his dad who was turned into a Pikachu (a la Pokemon Mystery Dungeon), Ash's mother lies about Ash's father still be around (she does not even know). Still, when a show is trying to say a kid went around the world, winning/placing in several LONG competitions all in less than a year, it's time to make your own canon.

Of course Ash stays at 10! Why wouldn't he? It keeps people wondering which catches extra attention for the cartoon. That aside, they use it to make sure that it appeals to the children to watch the cartoon/anime. (Depending on what you want to classify it as)

I think it is amazing that ash is still soooooo young. In real prospective he should be around 20 something right. Pokémon has been out for over 10 plus years and still young. An earlier post said that it was to appeal to the kids of that age. I can see the company doing something like that. It is a smart teckneckly but for those of us that have been playing Pokémon for years, it just gets really irritating. At least that's my option. Even though in it doesn't nessacarily make since to have a 20 year old ash but sometimes it does.

Before I start my little rant I should tell the creator of the thread that Ash is 10 not 12, but it really doesn't matter. I also want to point out that during the short Pikachu and the Pichu Brothers it is Ash's birthday and the day he first met Pikachu meaning that Ash had turned 11, but in the series I do believe it was during the DP generation but I am not sure he is asked how old he is and answers 10. Why? I think it is because Nintendo knew that if they kept making him grow up more and more then it wouldn't be for little kids anymore and it would become a teenagers show and then eventually an adults show and that is not what was intended for Pokémon, it was aimed for kids. So that is my theory I could be wrong though. It is just the only thing that really makes sense to me.

actually he started as 10. then he started his journey at the age of 11. then he became twelve. in hoenn he became 13.. then in sinnoh he became 14 and to this day he is still 14.

will say this but they say Ash is 10 not 12. Makes no sense considering in Johto Ash and pikachu celebrated a 1 year anniversary. Me and a friend came up with a theory that all the Ashs' and pikachu's are clones made by professer Oak and he continually updates their memories. At the same time Ash was traveling through Kanto another Ash was in Hoenn. Ash 1-Kanto-Seafoam Islands-Johto. Ash2-Hoenn-Battle Frontier-Sinnoh Ash3-Unova. After the Sinnoh saga happened the second Ash died and was replaced with a third Ash for Unova which is why Ash lost so much skill for back in Sinnoh.
Putting that theory aside Ash should be 14 or 15 now.
