I didn't participate myself...
but I'd like to push to have glitch runs removed from the contest wins. Especially when it's as obvious as it was this time. Either way, congratulations to everyone. |

I agree with Leggy on this one. Glitching to get a high score shouldn't be allowed. It kind of defeats the purpose of the whole contest.

legacyme3 : Wait, what glitch is that?
And that's the problem with these kinds of competitions that they're hard to know what's real and what's chrated. That's why I like the contests like the screenshot contests or maybe an eventual speedrun contest. |

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=JYUPqahVx0E Keep doing it over and over until you get the desired amount of points. (I hope I'm showing the right one, or I'm gonna look "really stupid") Basically you start the level with any amount of lives, you go into this hidden hole, and you get the HIDDEN LIFE. Then you go on to get as many points as desired. It's pretty easy to do, and requires little actual skill. I don't even think that level is very far in the game either. So getting there doesn't exactly take a lot of skill either. It's really more a matter of how much time you want to waste. |

legacyme3 : That is the correct one. When I found it, I was really hoping nobody would think of it because I didn't want to spend 5 hours on it. As for getting there, you don't even have to do that. All you have to do is use the level select code, and you can start on that level, which saves you about 15-20 minutes.

That's still lame :/ I really wish there was a way to moderate this type of thing. I just think it's ridiculous that people who know how to exploit a game can get away with "winning" it. Technically, sonicmcmuffin had the highest score that wasn't exploited. But either way, whatever, you don't want me whiteknighting for what I believe is right. |

It'll be interesting to see the high scores to this month's competition. I probably won't participate because of my computer though.

Actually there is no way to prove that someone did not use the glitch. You can spend some time there and simply move on when you got enough points. The only way to prevent competitions from going awry like this is for video submissions to be analysed or hacked versions of the games that have these glitches removed somehow. Hopefully Hang On is not susceptible to this.
