I guess I prefer deadmau5, since I'm more familiar with their work.

I thought deadmau5 was techno and not dubstep Well anyways, I think deadmau5 is better than Skrillex because I think Skrillex has no talent whatsoever and he looks like an absoulute ponce, but that's just me

Neither of those artists are the kind of dubstep music hat I like. I prefer rock music, but if I were to listen to dubstep, I would want to listen to beats. To those who are not familiar with them, I highly recommend you look up Torus.

deadmau5 isn't dubstep or techno, his older stuff is more progressive electronic and his new stuff is more electro house.
Skrillex isn't really proper dubstep either, he uses a lot of 4/4 rhythms in his songs and even when he does use a dubstep rhythm, he uses toned up 'dub' sounds which displaces him from being classified as typical dubstep.

Personally I don't like either of them. They both sold out. Skrillex was always a sell out, but Deadmau5 was actually respectable back in the day and has now sold out to producing his music on a purely commercial base and "popular" sound.

This thread sure has gotten the attention of the music classifiers, huh? At any rate...

I'm not a "fan" of Skrillex, but between the two, I do prefer Skrillex because there are a few of his songs that I actually listen to on a regular basis and enjoy. Not many, but a few are good to me.

I really like both of them, I have listen to both dubstep and they both really sound really cool, but if I have to choose, I would choose Skrillex, the reason why, I got a few more songs than Deadmau5.

Many things need to be cleared up about this.

1. Skrillex is not your average dubstep. He's brostep, a loud variant of dubstep.
2. Deadmau5 is progressive house, not dubstep.
3. Dubstep is normally by one person, not a band.
4. Deadmau5 owns Skrillex's label.
5. Techno is a completely different genre.
6. Making electronic music is much more complex and difficult to make than music involving a band or regular instruments, and any artist of these genres should be respected for their efforts, even if you don't like it, they still probably dedicated days to make even one song.
And if I thought about it, I can name a lot more things that were wrong in this thread.

Anyways, onto the subject at hand.

Deadmau5 is a brilliant composer, responsible for creating more than 300 songs in the past 15 years. Skrillex however, made maybe 30 in the course of 11, and that's counting his electronica phase, and songs he's made when he was in From First to Last.

Given the wide change of genre, it does mean that Skrillex has more experience instrumentally, but Deadmau5 has more experience with the genre he currently works with.

Deadmau5 has made the biggest impact possible on the electronic dance music scene, being the first progressive house artist to hit the mainstream, getting more people into electronic music, whereas Skrillex was the one who got more and more people interested in the specific dubstep genre.

In the music, there is a brilliant fine tuning in the sound of deadmau5, but Skrillex even had the majority of one of his albums based on various computer glitches and feedback sounds, and even his new songs have that. It's easy to tell where the most effort falls in, deadmau5 puts a lot of effort into his music, so does Skrillex, but you can really tell the quality in deadmau5's music in contrast to Skrillex.

I find that thwe sound in deadmau5 is a lot better than the sound of Skrillex personally, because it's for the most part enjoyable, and good to walk, rest, or play with.

deadmau5 is the better one because of how it sounds and how great it is made. Don't get me wrong, I love Skrillex but both are really great.

My brother listens to deadmau5. I don't really like that kind of music, but once in a while is fine. Deadmau5 has some really good beats that Skrillex doesn't have. The reason I don't like it is because my brother spams the music over and over again and it gets stuck in my head! I just want to kill him!
