Pokémon Red. My favorite video game ever. In this game your finally 10 years old and get to have your very own Pokémon and become a Pokémon master! But your not the only one. Professor Oak's grandson, your rival (Gary) wants to be the master too. He is the first person you battle. He will always get the advantage (Example: If you choose Charmander he will choose Squirtle.) You also must face other trainers and Pokémon Gyms.
There are 8 gyms and each one you beat gives you a badge. Once you get all 8 badges you get to face The Elite Four and be the master! But to be the master, you must catch the Pokémon!
At the Poke Mart you can buy PokeBalls to catch Pokémon and Potions to heal them. The PokeCenter can heal your party for FREE! But Pokémon Red is not all happy. It has a dark side. This dark side is Lavender Town. Lavender Town, to start off with, has REALLY creepy music. The beta Pokémon's Lavender Town's music had high pitched tones that gave kids headaches, that was removed from the real version. Next is the Pokémon Tower. Where dead Pokémon lie to rest. Don't go there without a Silth Scope, or you may encounter a GHOST. GHOST can not be attacked, due to the fact your Pokémon are too scared. And its impossible to catch. Anyway, on with the score!
GRAPHICS: 10 - Really good for Game boy graphics. And that's just the map. Look at the battles!
SOUND: 10 - When I play I always sing to the music. For some reason I love Lavender Town's music. There might be something wrong with me (JK.)
ADDICTIVENESS: 9 - It can take around 10 - 30 hours just to get from Pallet town to The Elite Four. Then you have to catch them all.
STORY: 9 - They don't explain it much in the game, but everyone knows the story of a 10 year old leaving home to collect Pokémon.
DEPTH: 10 - Getting 150 takes a LONG time. And getting Mew is really almost impossible.
DIFFICULTY: 6 - Sometimes you can find yourself lost in a cave. And catching Pokémon is really hard if its a legendary. If you run out of Ultra Balls, your done. That legendary is gone.
Now here is a little glitch in Pokémon Red, Blue, Green, and even Yellow. Go to Viriden (sorry for misspells) city. Talk to the old man who teaches you how to catch Pokémon. He will ask if your in a hurry. Click No. Then watch him catch the Pokémon. Then right after fly to Cinnabar Island. Go to the right and surf on the coast so your in half land half water. Don't go out to the right or it wont work. Keep surfing up and down until a battle starts. If the glitch works, The wild battle will take an extra second to start, then you will be greeted by a backwards L made of fuzz named MISSINGNO. Catching him or running will make it so the 6th item in your pack will be X129. Cool huh? Thanks for reading the review! ~ claudevandog.
