I discovered a trick after I was placed on a graveyard shift to eliminate noise regardless of how loud.

Get EarPluggs.
Then Get Headphones and jack them into the T.V.
Select a channel that does not have anything or turn on the D.V.D. player without a D.V.D.
Increase the volume of this nothing till Annoying Sounds are gone.

In California The Locals Often Get enthusiastic about their Non-English Music.
I miss the East Coast City Folks that got Enthusiastic Over "The Three Tenors" or Opera Music (Different Non-English. Better too). Way easier to Sleep through or study with.
But hey ..
That's life.

HAHAHA! That really sucks, that is so unfortunate when your trying to do homework and you hear makin out noises. Ewww, I would just continue blasting your headphones and try tuning it out as best as you can. I am not old enough, so I can't really give you advice based on personal experience, but do they do that while you are trying to sleep. I would've been fine with the old people, so it would be easier to concentrate on homework. This is sort of a funny and a graphic situation. You might have to get used to how common it must be in college. Hope you get some good advice man, sorry about your situation! Glad this hasn't happened to me yet.

I used to hear my roommate and his girlfriend going at it in their room. The problem was that we had two doors in between our rooms and I could still hear her moaning. I still sometimes think she was having a hard time using the bathroom, because it sounded too much like constipation to me.

When I lived in an apartment, these two women moved into a one bedroom apartment upstairs. Maybe they were just roommates or something more. Anyway, about two or three times a week I'd be laying in bed with complete quiet and darkness when all of a sudden I'd hear a very low pitched grinding noise coming from up there. I guess it could have been a vibrating heating pad for back pain, etc.

I don't recall ever being annoyed or grossed out but it did give my imagination a running start. I guess frustrated is the word which best describes it.

I never wanted to voluntarily think about this. Well its traumatizing story time! First off, I know I'm a little young for this, but hear me out. My room is next to my parents. And it was fine for a bit. But well, they must be trying for another baby or something. Let's just say they are very attracted to each other. But I go to bed about the same time as them, at most there is a 4 minuet difference. Anyway, its just...I AM  7 INCHES AWAY FROM THEM! (about the thickness of the wall) I know they can do whatever they want, its their right and all that. But a certain sleep deprived Vizzed user would REALLY appreciate it if they could just turn it down a notch.

Ugh... I remember I was once sleeping in a very cheap hotel a long time ago with my family for one night. It was a horrible night. I hear people yelling at the next room, I hear loud music, and the bed I slept on was like a piece of wood. I'm glad this never happened to me again. Thats why we should never live in places like that.

Here is my advice. Since your doing homework I really suggest getting a good pair of noise canceling headphones. I suggest bose headphones. They are expensive but trust me they are worth every dime I bought a pair 7 years ago and they still work. Although I am going to have to replace the padding that fits around my ears they still work great. Plus the sound quality is amazing. Trust me on this save up for a pair they are worth it.
