My parents actually quit cold turkey when I was about six. I was too young to remember if they got really irritable (they were normally, so I may not have noticed)... but I am very proud of them since neither have had one since. Well, that isn't strictly true... years later my dad had one drag just to see how it tasted after so long, and he said he found it disgusting since his tastes had changed since he'd quit. Despite that, every now and then when they are very stressed, they both will have a slight craving for one even though it's been over 21 years.

mikedavike28 : If you can get a hookah to switch to, do it. It is much better for you than actual cigarettes since there are no harmful additives. I will admit that even I, who cannot be within 100 feet of a lit cigarette, can and have smoked hookah. I can even do smoke rings.

I really don't see anything sexy about smoking, although some people think it is attractive.....

Well, I don't think it's either sexy OR good for your health, either way.
Plus, I heard somewhere that if a male smokes, his.. stinger ( like a bee ) when it's.. fully loaded, it's smaller than it's used to be because of the bad circulation of the blood.
(I'm keeping it flowers and bees here, it's a family friendly site after all.)

Mature Discussion? Really? How is it mature when the answer is so simple? Right in front of you...

You can't refute that I - or anyone else who does - finds it attractive because it is purely subjective opinion. I think you are missing the point. This is a discussion thread, it gives people a chance to think about their answer and elaborate on how they feel. That is the point of this forum where long, thoughtful answers are encouraged. Nowhere have I actually encouraged smoking, picked a fight or disagreed with people when they list the myriad of health risks associated with this bad habit. Hopefully people may learn something about cigarettes while reading this thread.

Just a thought, but if you're fiance is all for healthy living like you, dosent smoking just destroy the whole point of that?

What I learned from this thread is that apparently destroying your own health is attractive for some people. Wait, cross that out because I already knew that. There's barely anything to think of for a discussion like this.

Man you guys can't solve problems like this on your own. I bet there's going to be a response to this. The only thing that has probably learned is that smoking is bad for you; if the person didn't know that (before).

Oh wow, I did not expect an argument to break out . This thread needs a review. I'm not saying that because I hate it; I mean, I just saw a few posts about some people arguing. I already posted here about what I think of this question so I won't answer it again. 

I do not find it sexy in any way shape or form. I can't stand how the smoke smells because it makes it impossible for me to breath. I don't like how people's breath smell when they smoke. My grandpa died from lung cancer too, so smoking is something I simply can't stand. I'm not going to judge someone if they choose to smoke, but I would ask them to keep their lit cigarettes away from me.

And as the staff member for this forum, I have already stated once  that this thread is fine, it violates no rules of the board, and is in the 13+ forum. As I have also stated, just because people have a different opinions doesn't mean it is wrong. Now can we stop the complaints?

Hookah's are awesome, so chill, many a time I've sat around a hookah with my friends and didn't even think about a cigarette. So if you ever get one or even the chance to try one, I would recommend it. It can be a little harsh to people who haven't smoked before but if you smoke some recreational things first *hint hint* the hookah really enhances your buzz. Just an extra thought.

Raveman : Right? I mean, I can totally understand all the things that people hate about cigarettes. But discussing cigarettes and how they affect relationships is *just a discussion*, in a forum that is 13+. I think this is just a case of misdirected anger. Elara has already responded to the complaint(s) made about this topic, so that's settled, thankfully.

How is smoking suppose to be sexy when the smell is awful and Annette I'm assuming that you smoke.

death_nation : I don't smoke cigarettes, actually. But the smell has never bothered me.

I think cigarettes are not necessarily repulsive but more something I despise. I mean there are some good people in the world who smoke but it's just something that doesn't make me exactly want to get to know them. And personally I hate the smell of cigarettes (Plus I try and avoid 2nd hand smoking)
