I live in Puerto Rico and if there are any Latino people around here they would know family plays a big roll in daily life around here. Thing is my father is in the military so he's been gone from home since 2005, he calls all the time and visits for around 2 weeks during Christmas but I've noticed that nobody in my immediate family really talks to each other aside from him. We never have dinner together, we don't have fun conversations all the time and we don't really plan stuff to do in a group.

As I've gotten older I started to notice all my friends just hanging out with their mothers and fathers in public and laughing with them, any time I see that I feel a little jealous as I've never had that kind of connection despite being so outgoing with everyone so I want to ask all of you; How do you feel around your family?

Do you love them?
Do you feel indifferent?
Do you wish they were gone?

Is there anything you would ask them to do with you if you only had a week to be with them?

Of course I love my family, without them, I would definitely be as well off as I am today.

I know how some kids hate their parents and all, but I feel the opposite way, I understand my parents, so whereas they might be berating me for something, that understanding makes it a whole lot easier to keep my cool.

Family plays a big role in everyone's life despite racial background.

As a gay male, I initially thought being gay was wrong and my family would be disappointed and shun me if they found out. Thankfully, I never had to fret over this issue because all of my family has been accepting and supportive! Little did I know, homosexuality runs in my mothers side of the family, as explained by my mother when I first came out of the closet (around 12-13 years old!) It was a huge relief and burden lifted off my shoulders at that time.

My parents unconditional love discipline as a child was strict, but I thank them for it! It molded me to become the independent, open/strong minded, friendly person I am today, and it's all because of how well I was raised. I love my family dearly for their open mindedness and willingness to accept even the most bizarre things! I couldn't have asked for a more supportive and loving family!

I guess it depends on the family member. Personally, overall I can't deal with visitors for over 2 weeks because then they start to get on my nerves; they eat all my favorite foods, sleep in my room, make me do that much more work on average, and basically make me want to hate their guts.

I love my family very much , we always had so much fun together.
I remember a time where we all went to coney island for my 11th birthday.
That was an very fun day and the first time I rode on a roller coaster.
There was this one time where my dad kept taking the family to the beach
for 2 weeks in a row , everyday when he had the big van. It got tiring but it was
enjoyable .

I basically got along with my family really well. We also did a lot of weird things together
like having an random popcorn fight in the hall way . I felt like home was the only place
that I can be my true self , with my family . I love them so much

My family is funny... I love them all, even if sometimes they get annoying. I still can count with them... They help me in all of my problems, and they make me feel better if I'm sad...

I really love my family...
