I would be really happy if we could just get to the Playoffs. That would be phenomenal.

Bad news for Packers fans. Their starting LT Brain Bulaga might have damaged his knee or ACL and could be out for the season. That's not good since he was one of the more reliable OLine guys to protect Rodgers. Packers should have really considered drafting OLine with their 1st round pick, now they are thin at the OLine position again. (I'm not saying that as a Bears fans).

Also...

FOOTBALL IS BACK BABY!!!

Anyone else watch the HoF game?

Oldschool41 : Didn't get the chance to watch HoF game. But I'm going to the first preseason game for the Falcons on Thurs night. Real excited about getting Steven "The Beast" Jackson in the draft.. Can't wait to watch him play! Go Falcons!

Kruzer : Aren't you lucky. lol. Your playing against Cincy too so that should be an interesting matchup with that Cincy D (AJ Green isn't playing so the Bengals Offense might not be 100%)

Oldschool41 : Yeah, but that's expected because it's just the preseason. Neither team will be 100% but at least the starters will play for the first half (hopefully)
Bad timing for that new 'No leading with your helmet down the field' rule, too. That's what he always does; he just runs right over you! Now he has to get used to this new rule

I feel the Brady Bunch is gonna go another season with 10+ wins, even with all the crazy business during the off season with Hernandez (truly a shame), and Gronkowski still rehabbing. However, the rookie receivers have been showing promise and had a bunch of time to work with Brady, so they should be all set for this season. We all know that Brady makes other players around him better
Amendola seems like a really good replacement for Wes Welker, and L. Blount, the impact muscle running back (which the Patriots did not have last year) will be a great addition to New England's run game.
The only issues I have  is with Tebow. So far, he isn't doing as great as people would have thought...I would have thought that when Tebow signed with the New England Patriots, Belichick would have changed his position to halfback, or even tight end, but no, he remains a QB.
The defense I feel had made some improvements last year, and is looking good this year too, it's just the passing that creates issues - the safeties usually seem to be slower than the wide receivers.

First play of the season, Adrian Peterson goes 78 yards for the TD. In fact, he's got two touchdowns already now. This guy is just unbelievable. I'm not a Vikings fan, but I'll certainly be following AP this season.

How about them Bears baby?? What a second half for the offense. Man did they look great. Especially by a team that everyone had ranked Top 5 in the power rankings.

Other week 1 observations:

The Niners looked pretty dangerous today. I don't think anyone wants to play them right now. Honestly I know the Packers defense isn't the greatest but what the Niners did should scare most teams right now.

The Packers did well against a great defense, so don't slight them too much. Their only problem is their run game is non-existent and their pass defense needs to improve bigtime.

The Lions looked Dangerous and the Vikes have nothing on Offense aside from AP. Ponder is horrible. Their defense also got smoked repeatedly. Although no one should be scared of the Lions defense either lol

The Raiders surprised me but they still wound up losing. Their defense looks decent but I'm not sure about the offense. Pryor did better than a lot anticipated.

Steelers offense looked horrendous.

How 'bout them Jets?? Geno looked good at times. That penalty at the end that gave the Jets a chance for a FG to win was horrible. That guy should be shot lol

Same with EJ Manuel...but the Bills ran out of gas on defense at the end.

Reid in KC might actually give fans something to cheer about...even though they were playing the Jags.

Hooo boy was that a bad game down in Dallas tonight. I felt like neither team deserved to win. I mean you give up 6 turnovers on the road you have no business being in that game. Both teams played sloppy. It's going to the the battle of the mediocre in that division again this year.

What else stood out for you guys?

the gosh darn bucks i knew they would lose because everyone picked and betted on them but I just told myself I was overreacting. Same thing with the steelers, I kinda knew bengals would barely lose though. Oh well my pats are on the board so i'm happy with that

Jordanv78 : How could you forget about the Falcons-Saints game. The Saints D holding the Falcon's offense to just 17 points. Everybody was thinking this would be a high scoring game, but that was what stood out to me.

Also how about that Honey Badger play.

Oldschool41 : True. I just honestly didn't catch as much of that action today when it was going on. To be honest though I kinda figured that Brees would have a nice day and win with it being Peyton's first game back in the Dome. The defense did surprise me though.

Yeah that Philly offense sure looked good early at times but really bogged down in the second half. They will have growing pains but that will be a great offense for fantasy owners of Jackson Vick and McCoy if the trio can stay healthy....The Philly defense though doesn't look good at all.

The Redskins looked awful on offense early. To say RG3 looked VERY rusty early but seemed to knock some of the cobwebs off in the second half. Still though that doesn't look like a playoff team to me right now. That division is going to be the battle of the mediocre again this season. Especially if Dez Bryant is out for the Cowboys for any length of time.

Thoughts on the Chargers Texans game?? lol

If you are a Chargers fan all I have to say is, I'm sorry. I mean how do you blow that lead at home? First they come out and shock everyone looking great on Offense. Rivers has 4 TDs early in the 3rd quarter, but after that it was just mistake after mistake. Defense hurt them at big times not being able to stop the Texans on 3rd and long, and Rivers making that bad throw that led to the pick 6. Sure it was a great play by Cushing, but that was a horrible pass. Not to mention that weird call on the FG that turned 3 into 7 for the Texans late in the game.

Great first week of NFL action!

You're right, the Redskins probably could not have played any worse, was clearly the Philly's game

Lightning strikes twice for the Chargers, they gave up a 21+ point lead to lose in the opening game against the Broncos last season
Texans should have been dead and buried but they just kept plugging away

That was such a heart-breaker for the Chargers. Too quote an old Cardinals coach, they let them off the hook.

11-5 with my week 1 picks. Am I the only one who thinks the Jets have a chance against the Patriots on Thursday? Gronkowski is still out, Amendola is doubtful to play, Vereen placed on IR (with designation to return). Vereen was the only player in the NFL to rush for 100+ yards in week 1. The Jets also have a better defense than the Bills. Geno Smith was actually decent against the Buccaneers. If he plays like that again, they might just be able to steal another one.

Oh geez. Bad start for the Pats...a win's a win, but I am pretty sure that's not how the Pats would have liked to played to start off.

I hope they rebound in good fashion and make the Jets' Wilkerson eat his words

And going with chewedmint, I do think the Jets have a chance. Again, Amendola being out really hurts the Pats. Edelman may have a break out game, but honestly, not much offense out there for Brady to work with. Hopefully the rookies step up.

Chewedmint : McCoy wound up rushing for around 180 yards, but I get your point. It hurts that they lost Vereen especially on passing downs, but I think that Ridley might have a bounce back game against the Jets. Also look for Blount and Bolden. I remember Bolden playing pretty well for them at times last year when he needed to fill in.

Honestly the Jets might be able to make some noise this week against the Pats. The difference for the Jets this week though? They have a rookie QB playing on the road in a rivalry game. Sure the Pats have issues with some injuries but they still have Tom Brady so good things can still happen. If the Jets take a step back this week, don't be too surprised.
Chewedmint : McCoy wound up rushing for around 180 yards, but I get your point.
