I, myself never have been quite a "social" person to get into social networking. But, everywhere I lurk seems to be the same, things I see at school get mentioned online, things I hear on TV are discussed again by peers, memes there is memes everywhere...

Quite honestly, it somewhat bores me. I don't expect things to be that boring/interesting but, something seems lacking... I dunno, maybe it's just me.

So, thoughts, opinions maybe? I'm sure there are people that happened to be a bit more interested in this than me and know a little more to it so, any experiences with it would also be cool to know too.

I have a Facebook, but it's not all that it used to be, I guess. During middle school and high school days, I would be pretty obsessed with it and be constantly on it for no real reason. I am still on it every day, but it's mostly to just play whatever game I'm into at the moment or post something on my boyfriend's wall, or talk to friends, etc. I used to be pretty obsessed with the concept of taking lots of pictures just so I could post it on Facebook. 
Now, it's just not really a big deal to me. I avoid it if I can at times. I get irritated seeing certain people's posts, though there is the option to hide them from your news feed or block them. 
Facebook isn't that interesting anymore, but maybe it's because I'm no longer a teenager. 

I used to be on Facebook a lot, but that was about 5 years ago. That was back when my closest friends used Facebook to talk to each other, post pictures of the fun stuff we did and we would all make comments. It was just nice to talk to my friends. But now everyone has hundreds of 'friends' on Facebook and use it for stupid stuff. They stalk people they no longer talk to and use it for the apps. Not my cup of tea, so I am almost never on it anymore. Twitter always seemed dumb to me. It seems like the people who tweet and have followers are the people who think everything that they do in the day or everything they say is something everyone is dying to know about. It just feeds into the people's egos thinking everything about what they say on it is gold.

The only thing Twitter can be good for, in my opinion, would be giving other people a small update on the fly --because Facebook's iPhone app is crap, though I admit I only have an iPod Touch. I do not think any of my friends have a Twitter account, so there is no reason for me to get one either.

Facebook updates its layout every couple of months it seems --they haven't stuck me with the Timeline virus yet, yay. Each update annoys me at first, but since it is a free service there is no reason I should be complaining.

I first signed for it because my close friends had their own accounts. I was extremely excited to use it. It was so cool at first just to be on it like starting a new video I had just purchased.

Over time I because rather obsessed with apps. Mafia Wars, Flair, and several others consumed my attention and, in part, hindered my studies for college. Time passed and I grew tired of most of the apps. As of earlier this month I officially turned off all apps, and I am completely content with it.

Lately I have not been on Facebook as much as I used to. I am now using it mostly for what it was intended, but I still drop links and talk with friends about something funny often. I hardly update my status each week. Never really think much about anything to say other than what holds importance to me.

Social Networking sites can be beneficial, you just have to think about what you plan to use it for.

Hated all of them, going all the way back to Friendster or whatever it was called. Even the so-called blogging networks like Xanga... And at least those let you customize your layout! I remember when you had to at least know how to sign up for a Geocities page to make a web presence . Now all you have to do is have an email address... (kind of the same thing, really...)

I only use them to keep in touch with family. Or to stalk my gf{in a good way}. it is a nice way to get a party goin though, just send a invite to your friend list and its on.

I don't really use them much anymore.

I used to like Facebook in high school, and took a small interest in Twitter, Myspace, etc...

but now I have little interest in them. I use Facebook to keep up with old friends and family... but that's it.

I think that Social networking sites like Facebook make it easier to keep up with old friends that live in different states and share things with them quickly. I do think that it has hampered some peoples abilities to have normal friendships outside of social networking though...like somehow people are starting to forget how to be social...in real life

For the more famous social networking sites, its kind of sad that big companies are taking over those areas to connect to social media, but overall, the social networking area has its ups and downs, but overall is alright.

IKR it's the same with me. I've never really been on Twitter / Myspace. I might've made a Facebook account, but I've never used it. It's kind of annoying to me when people go on and on about Facebook being harmful to teens and stuff. Especially when the same people preaching about it do the same thing.

I used to use MySpace but as it fell out of popularity I stopped since it's purpose was to keep me connected with my friends and they were all on Facebook. I actually had a Facebook for a long time, but I have only been using it actively for the last five years (oh wow, five). Before both of those sites I used LiveJournal... still do every now and then.

I haven't caved to Twitter or Tumbler yet since I really don't see the point of it all... though I might be forced to cave to Twitter because so many companies now do specials and stuff using it and I don't want to be left out.

I'm kindof strange in this way, but I never get addicted. I enjoy going on 10-15 minutes a day. But after that I just voluntarily close it and move on. That somehow has kept social networking fun.

As a future teacher, I have been strongly advised on multiple occasions to limit my activity on social networking sites as much as possible. All it takes is for a single person to take a photo of me doing something stupid or unprofessional to get me fired. Many have been fired because of Facebook alone. Sad world we live in. 

They are great for talking to friends and family that are far away, it beats paying long distance on a phone bill that's already like $40.

I use Vizzed a lot more than I use Facebook now. For some apparent reason, I don't have a lot of interest towards it anymore....
