I don't usually watch movies, but I'd be interested in hearing about your favorite zombie movies so that I might catch something that I'd otherwise miss out on.

I'd also like to hear about your favorite zombie books. I've got a decent amount of time that I spend on campus; and while a lot of that time is spent working, I could stand to take a break every now and again. I don't bother posting on forums while on campus, though, so I need some good reading material. I'm kinda in the mood for some zombie reading, so any good suggestions would be appreciated.

As for my favorite zombie movie, that would have to be I Am Legend (the one with Will Smith). I haven't seen very many zombie movies, granted, but that was one of my favorite movies of any subject.

I Am Legend was a fantastic movie, and easily one of my tops in the horror/thriller genre, but I can't quite put it in the top of my Zombie list.

As for my favorite zombie film... It sort of alternates between several different ones. Of course, one of my favorites would have to be Undead, which is an Australian zombie flick that starts off with a few people turning into zeds, then escalates as an alien space craft lands and walls off the town that has been infected. As the movie progresses, our heroes find that whenever it is raining, zombies can be found near by, and learn quickly to avoid the rain. However, they find that the rain does not signal only zeds, but anyone caught in it will eventually be pulled away--presumably to be turned into a zed.

The movie has a great twist at the end, but I don't want to give it away here, but if you think about it it's actually pretty obvious.

I've never read a zombie book before, any good recommendations?

I haven't really seen a whole bunch of zombie movies either, but My favorite ones are with no doubt Zombieland and I am Legend.

I loved Zombieland so much, I remember when I first saw it, I had to watch it like three times in a row.

Zombieland was a great movie, and resident evil was decent too.

pi0x : Oh I can't believe I forgot to mention Zombieland! What an incredible film! I loved every single minute of that movie, and I never wanted it to end.

Also I have to mention Shaun of the Dead as one of the greatest zombie flicks of all time, if only for creating a universe where the undead stick around and can be put to good use!

Also, I have to disagree with everyone about Zombieland. I'm gonna have to go back and watch it again, to give it a fair chance, but I didn't like it the first time through. I think it was because everyone told me it was a fantastic movie and I was gonna love it, but it fell short of expectations. It wasn't that it was a bad movie, it just wasn't nearly as good as everyone told me it would be.

And Shaun of the Dead is another one that I'm gonna have to check out. I've heard a lot about that one before (mostly good things), but I've never actually watched it myself.

soxfan849 : Definitely do, but you've got to know that this isn't exactly your run-of-the-mill zombie flick. Shaun of the Dead would be more accurately described as a comedy film involving zombies.

soxfan849 : Whilst you're on the Netflix you should also check out The Walking Dead if you haven't seen it already. It goes in completely the opposite direction of Zombieland and Shaun of the Dead, marking a completely serious account of the days immediately following the zompocalypse. Totally a great series, and I can't wait for season two to come to Netflix!

I hear lots about how great The Walking Dead show is, and I WILL be watching it at some point, but it'll have to top The Walking Dead comic. I love that comic so so so so much.


I loved I Am Legend, though the ending was a bit lacking. I'll need to get it and watch the proper ending.

Shaun of the Dead was pretty great.

Argus Swift : I'm liking it so far. I'm only three episodes in, but I've enjoyed it for the most part. I definitely have my complaints about the show (none that I'll show, because they might kind of spoil it), but it's definitely worth checking out if you already have Netflix or you can get a free trial.

Although I am Legend was great, I generally prefer less serious zombie movies, such as Shaun of the Dead.

That being the case, my favorite zombie movie is easily Zombieland. The mixture of humor and action was perfect, and my favorite actor even made a brief appearance in the film. I can't wait for two, coming out in 2013.
